Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
I'm currently at a crossroads at work..
Purchase another Dragon/dsmc1 camera to dedicate for our travel/documentary rig.. or purchase a Raven kit to dedicate for this work.
I'll be traveling alot over the next year, and would like to have a decent "all in one" red solution. We currently have...
UPDATE 2/21/18....
I’m not sure if the problem on the 2013 Mac pros is solved, as I’ve recently upgraded computers.
I'm now on a new iMac pro, running 10.13.3 and working with red files in resolve... here's how:
My system admin updated to the newly released Pro Video Formats... you have to...
This happens to be my first project edited/corrected entirely in Davinci Resolve 12.5..... Man.. what a powerful program they've built.
in any case.. youtube did a some weird things with the colors in a few shots... not sure what that's all about, much to learn indeed...
Hey Reds,
My coworker finally convinced me to dive into DaVinci Resolve last week... Needless to say... It's absolutely an amazing piece of software.
We'll be officially ditching Final Cut and Adobe Premiere for the majority of our workflow once the official 14 release hits the shelves and our...
I work for a non-profit... We now get to shoot with two dragons and a scarlet... It's taken us 10 years for my work to purchase them.
My coworker and I agree if we never "upgrade" these cameras we wouldn't care. We LOVE our red workflow... .r3d files... the camera interface... etc...
It's hard to put the whole experience into words... but... from camera assembly, customization, operation, filming methodology, the insanely amazing iso based shooting, REDMAGs, processing in REDCINE-X Pro > NLE (FCPX or Premiere) > Davinci, to delivery...
It's insane how amazingly satisfying...

It's been awhile since I visited the Red forum.. or kept up with Red camera news for that matter... In fact, I just left Red's homepage and am blown away by the cameras they're offering now... The Scarlett is now basically the camera an Epic was a few years ago.. this is just plain craziness...
We're applying for a grant to finish an internal documentary, which we've been filming for about 3 years.
The majority (99.5%) of the filming is done, with internal interviews of the participants of the project left to film.
we've done everything in house, and have over 28tb of footage to work...
Here's a video we just released as our public statement for the darpa robotics challenge... it's also a preview of the documentary i've been filming for the 4 year journey to this point.
A ex-coworker recently started a company to produce running robots based on principals we pioneered... I helped him with the kickstarter video, and now it's been accepted to the "staff pick's" section..
even if you don't want to purchase one, check out the video... it's pretty cool, and a good...
here's a little glimpse into the robotic research world... I know some of you worked on Transformers... but.. i am lucky enough to work on forefront of robotic research... these things are MUCH slower than our imaginations... and very unsexy compared to Optimus Prime... but... in the end...
the challenge... to observe one of our robotics projects 24 hours a day... 7 days a week... from multiple angles...
we will record the video signal (hd or better) and sync it with the data in real time... they'll write the code that records the video feed when we need to... the camera network...
so....
It NEVER fails... whenever I finally get the approval to order a piece of equipment... B&H photo is closed for some random period of time for some random reason... it's literally happened for the past two years...
i'm left with two choices... wait a few days to order... or go with...
