Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
Ill be getting the Contax 18mm lens, but it has an 86mm filter ring.
All my other lenses have the 80mm O.D. rings from Cordivision.
The 18mm has an 86mm, so would I be okay to get a step-down ring from 86-77mm and then attach the Cordivision 80mm O.D. ring?
The widest they sell is the 77...

I've asked this on the DVXuser forums, but I want more feedback.
I have been working freelance as a DOP/Camera Operator/Gaffer under my name this whole time.
Recently I've been thinking about working under a production company name instead of my personal name.
I've seen people who call...
Looking to buy or rent a 4x4ft light tent or one of those product soft boxes for quick beauty shots of products for a commercial.
Set it up. Throw up a light or two make the product very soft on a seamless white backdrop and shoot.... But, have the item spin.
The item looks something like this...
I see this issue a lot!
Not only have I encountered this myself, but I have seen many, many people go through this. I dont know what their results were after grading, so I cant say if its fixable or not in some cases.
Ive seen raw footage that looks amazing. Nearly perfect skin tones without...
I dont think Id blow an additional $2500 to just record proxies. That's expensive. Im saving for the epic, and that alone is very expensive and taking a while to save up.
But, Im just curious, if I ever shall maybe want to rent one or dont need the RAW files.
When recording ProRes. How high...
Shooting slow motion, you have many options on frame rates, from 48fps, 60, 120... 300, etc.
Is there a way to know how the final output will look like before?
If you are say shooting a scene that can only be done once and want it done in slow motion, but you dont know exactly how slow you want...
A few questions.
If you own the Scarlet, there is an option to upgrade to the Dragon Sensor for about 10K.
-What is the difference if you have the Epic and upgrading it to the Dragon?
-Why are there lower frame rates if you have the Scarlet?
-What if you want more frame rates, do you need to...
Im just looking at how much cameras would cost with the accessories to see what would be best for me.. comparing to other cameras

I've been having this issue a lot.
I've shot a short film a few months ago and I had all the raw files stored on my computer. All worked fine.
Looking back at them now, half of them dont work. I open up RCX and its just blank. Doesnt load, nothing.
Other files load, but only like a second of...
I've been going on a major debate as to which camera to purchase for a little while now.
The Red Scarlet or Epic is one of my choices. Epic being the top of the two.
I like the fact that there is the motion mount now available. That's great. That's what is pulling me in more.
But the one thing...
Just wondering if anyone had any reviews of this lens. I searched everywhere but did not find any reviews at all.
Want to know more about vignetting, colour, contrast, sharpness, breathing, etc.
It seems to be a great lens
Its not that big, not too heavy, and has a great range from wide to...
Movcam 144:80mm Step-Down-Ring for SALE.
Will work on any Mattebox with a 144mm lens diameter. It is used as a clamp on to clamp onto 80mm lens diameter lenses.
I'm sure you can use it without clamping it onto the actual lens.
I bought it new and ending up not needing.
Purchased new for $85...
I've seen a lot of footage that others have shot, not only the the Red cameras, but also on various other cameras where the peoples faces (skintones) are very redish.
Why is it like that?
I haven't used IR filters before. Haven't used and filters above 1.2 before.
Do I need to have an ir filter every time I use filters above 1.2? And should I be using IRND filters or two separate filters?
