  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE M-X Sensor Upgrade Program

I thought the MX sensor was slightly larger than Super-35 -- 30mm x 15mm I believe.

While the sensor size is 5K, RED ONE image size with M-X sensor is constrained to 4.5K (and frame rate) by the electronics.

New RED ONEs with the sensor upgrade can be purchased AFTER the upgrade program is complete for existing RED ONE customers.

Jarred will new red ones being bought now come with the new sensor in them or the original sensor ?

Please note that new RED ONEs with upgraded M-X sensors will not be sold until all existing customers have had the opportunity to upgrade their cameras.

Fantastic news you guys. I can't wait to see some "real world footage" from this thing. Attaway to get the RedRocket in on the deal too.

-J.A.Brown

We have a 100% greenlit feature that starts Feb 2nd called HYPOTHERMIA - creature feature shooting on a frozen lake upstate NY - lots of night exteriors - fingers crossed they can turn Elvis & Bond around in time. If so ... plenty real world footage.

Hypothetically speaking, is anyone getting this upgrade who DOESN'T need/want a RED Rocket™ card? I'm not a camera owner and won't be, but I could use a RR card for Post gigs. There could be a way to make it beneficial to both parties and RED sells more cards. Unless the cost of a RR is about to come down of course.

What would RED think of such a thing, he asks in a innocent manner?

Already started to push the "get mail" button. Can't wait to push the M-X Red button.

Thanks for the clarification Jim.

(Jason, you were indeed correct).

There is also bundle price for the sensor upgrade plus a RED Rocket™ card for $8750.

Customers that upgrade their cameras and decide to enter STAGE 1 or STAGE 2 of the epic program will receive a credit back of $1250 at the time they enter either of those 2 stages.

I'm in!

Very generous. Much appreciated.

Is the board upgrade a new item? Before all that was mentioned was the sensor being upgraded... now the board announcement. Will this new board give us something beyond what has been stated all along? I've used my quota of question marks so will stop.

great news

will we be able to take our cameras to RED UK for this upgrade ?

here's hoping

If my Math is right Dan:

RED One upgrade sensor + Rocket Card = 8,750.00

Stage Two upgrade fee (net) = 19,5000.00

Less credit for upgrade - 1,250.00

Total cost $27,000.00

Very nice to see the trends being set. Thanks RED!

How does warranty configure with the the new sensor btw? And email notifications, are they to coincide with stage notifications?.. or will that be an entirely separate program. I'm guessing the latter.

Thanks!

Wow. Kinda makes me wish I hadn't been laid off today.
