  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So all stages including the few early tattoo are affected?

And just clarifying, when you said 'yes' to the scarlet delay question was that yes to Nov30 announce still being on track or yes to it also being delayed?
thanks

J

Nov. 30th announcement is still on track for Nov. 30th.

All stages are affected, including TATTOO.

I am finding it hard to be disappointed by delays when I know that the Scarlets and Epics that finally will be released are going to be fully functioning and so far beyond what was originally envisioned, and the October announcements just reinforced that. I'm looking forward to the Nov 30 announcement, and willing to give them however long it takes to release them publicly.

Oh. Not news to me. I knew this would happen and said it would happen many times before. The road ahead is paved with quite a few more bumps. There must be a reason this technology is not out there already. Everything sounds doable until you start doing it, that is when reality kicks in.

I predicted as much also, but just like with my little RED ONE the DSMCs are going to kick all kinds of butt when the finally drop.

The difference this time is that after getting ONE sucker punch, the other guys are now in a fighting mood, they are already swinging, high and low.

Jim, you are right, we wanted and we wanted NOW!!

But reality is that many of us even so not willing to admit so, are still struggling in this economy, and trying anything to stay afloat, and or survive it, so as we continue to dream the new gear, a delay at this stage, even so was kinda of expected, not in a bad way, but what you guys have been promising it just amazes me, and fully understand any delays to get things working.

We also know well that at RED every one is always working well over the call of Duty, every one I know at RED has proven that to me over and over, also answering PM's and emails, at the most weird hours and days of the week.

Keep it up, we all be here waiting for the new Cameras, and even so many of us have the money now, many other of us do not, and or could be put to better use till January or february or March or.. no just kidding, not that long :-)

We are here and we are in support of RED, and the people at RED, and I know I speak for very many of us.

Thanks again for having not given up on RED's transparency policy, even so the various good reason given to RED to change that as well.

BTW, SHE LOOKS SEXY AS EVER!!

Don't worry, Jim! Better to find out now then after the release.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of problems with the system did you encounter? How does a "faulty layer" affect the camera?

Jim, you already have the Red One out which is better than anything at many multiples of its price. You and your company's reputation is safe.

My father, who is a hardware engineer, was wondering how many gates your ASIC has? If you can disclose that information. He was rather curious...

I have to say that 95+% of our ASIC works great. This is quite a feat considering that industry experts say this is the single most complicated ASIC ever attempted.

Progress is progress, even if it takes longer than we want it to. While delays can be unsettling, I can't find anything to complain about here. Jim's statement above speaks volumes.

This is fantastic news... If all the ASIC is missing is a respun layer.. and 30 days... you guys are honestly farther ahead than what I realistically was expecting for such a technological feat...

If 30 days is a big setback than we must be getting CLOSE.

Keep up the hard work. I'll be ready to receive my scarlets whenever they are ready to ship. The money is just sitting in its own account (appropriately entitled 'RED savings')

JIM - We understand your complex engineering challenges you need to go through to accomplish a product which is never delivered.

All the best...

I love the addition of the RS and user buttons on the smart side/front... thanks for listening to the feedback.

It also looks like the buttons are guarded instead of protruding [i.e. the most pronounced feature is a piece of hard metal, not the button itself]. That will help immensely in preventing accidental rolls, so thanks for that as well.
