  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Incredible...

DSMCTM stands for Digital Stills and Motion Camera... and by our definition, both need to be RAW (since we made it up, we make the rules). Last time I looked, none of the DSLRs have RAW motion... so they don't qualify. Call them something else.

Thanks.

Jim

That's what I was thinkin' :D

I'm having trouble thinking of an instance where a small LCD would be used directly under an EVF...

Then don't put it there. Use your imagination... you can build it any way you want (and not build it any way you don't want). That's the point.

BTW... it will become apparent upon release why you just might want a configuration like this one.

More configuration ideas coming...

Jim

You use either the LCD or the Viewfinder. Most of the DP who works with the Red One don't use the viewfinder but operate through the LCD.
I can't also see the space for a follow focus for the focus puller. Lets make our remote focus ready guys...

By what year?

End of 2010.

Yeah ... I might be nuts but think of this:

I know several camera houses with buckets of money that skipped RED ONE and want Epic badly.

You need to factor in the new "DSMC market" - high end stills guys already shooting with RED ONE's - they will buy Epics faster than you can say Canon whatD?

There are entire industries that can benefit from a smaller form factor - high resolution camera with the features of the EPIC.

The very fact the form factor is so small, and the features are so robust - this camera is so perfect for multi-camera shoots like concerts, etc. - folks will throw more cameras at a shoot ... BECAUSE THEY CAN DO IT EFFICIENTLY.

Now ... I have no clue how fast RED can make these cameras ... but think how fast Canon and others make 'em.

This is totally out of left field, but just for the heck of it, I'm gonna bet that the next time the US sends someone into space, an Epic is going with them. Cause that'd be awesome.
Peace,

-Harry

I don't think many configurations will work. The basic shape of a cameras that is what the operator needs.
You can have many configurations possible but very few and similar are practical.

Totally agree Mark, plus the true explosion of 4K need for material with thousands of 4K screens, means that Major Studios across the board will desperately need 4K capture cameras, and as you said, there was and there still is the RED ONE but EPIC, will be something else all together.

The Commercial and Fashion Still world is absolutely awaiting the Epic event, for me it will start with which one will be first available, and then work my way to the Brains of the FF and 645, and so will be for many Fellow Pro Photographers.

Would be funny if the China puts a Red flag, on the Red Planet, with a Red Camera shooting it!

This is what I was hoping for. Jim doesn't mock up configs just for the fun of it, there's always method to the madness.

CONFIGURATOR

CONFIGURATOR

would be wonderful if RED site, after release, would have a CONFIGURATOR flash application to play around. Lego style :D
