  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK... REDCINE-X time.

C'mon Mark you can stay up a little longer...

I really love that it autofinds your RED material...the info/image scroll on the thumbnails is priceless and teh playback performance on my unibody 15" MBSPro is pretty astonishing given how fast the cache bar is filling up.

Nice, just by selecting the upper level in the Browse window, it will show all of the R3D clips in the lower levels. So if you select the "volume" then shows everything from all of the volumes mounted.

Dammit only 1 AM EST and morning meeting in a few hours . If I didnt have to spend all day comping Red stuff I would be playing with this and Rocket.

Geez the mouse-over preview is freaking astounding. Does it keep looping or can we set a poster frame to park on? I double-click something, and it goes into a bin. I double-click from the bin, it goes to a timeline. I tweak the look as I go. Matter of fact, in almost real time as I play back on an i7 system with a few other things running. Yo. There's even a trim tool.

Not sure I would do this, but can I make a rough string-up here then spit out an EDL or some XML for Final Cut, keeping the image corrections? Or vice-versa, bring a FCP project in to finish?

Thank you so much.

based on earlier info Jim said it would be open to 3rd party development to plug the holes RED is leaving open. ala XML/EDL/Conform tools etc... i'm sure the master coders out theres will be all over this as soon as the SDK is avail.

Deanan,

You should let us know what area and how we can help you to accelerate your development. Public alpha is interesting, but we can make it more interesting to do open development in such field.

Jason,

Thanks for the reminder. That is great.

Cool. Discovering the tools. So if you hold the P keys down for 2 or 3 seconds on the curve control it holds your curve in memory. Sweet.

Glad most of you guys like the little peak behind the curtain so far.... There is alot of stuff to come...

just a heads up, there will be a dark period with minimal updates for the next 2 weeks as the guys now start to unify the code base and add platform support.

And yes REDCINE-X is going to be modular, so 3rd parties will be able to develop for it.

Also, not having a RED Rocket™, can or will RC-X be able to monitor out through the SDI's?

Thanks.

If you use MXO you can.
