  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Carrion monitor delivery?

Abel sells the cable to power this monitor from the PowerTap on the battery mount. It is a Switronix part.
 
Has anyone received monitors lately? Has Louis dried up and blown away?

What is keeping you guys from sending the dogs at this guy? Sure - some might have gotten their stuff, but if the guy isn't responding to e-mails or phone calls then he has effectively taken your money without sending you the product. In my books that's called 'stealing' and last time I looked that was illegal.

EDIT: I see the guys is taking Paypal payments. If you paid through Paypal then you might be able to get your money back if you file a complaint. Or even better - you might be able to get Paypal to shut this guy down... at least until he gets his act together and starts sending people what they've already paid for.

I also have not gotten my monitor. I have sent four emails requesting a refund. The only response I got was that he would pay me when he could. That was three weeks ago and I haven't heard anything since. I am wondering what course to take from this point forward. Paypal won't do anything because I bought it so long ago (you have to have all your complaints in within 45 days I think). Can I call my paypal credit card and have them deal with it? I did use the card... Do I have to take some sort of legal action? Any advice would be most appreciated. Feel free to reply back publicly as I am sure I am not the only one this has happened to and we could all use some advice.
 
Why don't we all get together on this. I'm sure he is not a bad guy and got himself into something he did not intend, but sounds like there are three customers here that are still waiting.

Any more out there? Anyone know his phone number? Anybody live near him?

Just replying to your post (#162) about the monitor.
I too like most of you waited a long time for mine to arrive (7-8months)....but it did arrive.....
But i must say, i wish i had ordered 2.....!
They are a very good monitor for the price, there are a few things i think that could be improved on it, but all up its a good buy. The reason i wish i had 2 is, I'm worried if this one takes a dive, that it will never be able to be repaired, judging by Luis form here......?
I had a very interesting encounter a few days ago on a job here in Sydney.
I was DPing a shoot on HD that was nearly all Steadicam. I wanted to check colours etc coming from the camera while it was still on the rig, so i plugged the Carrion into the camera and started flicking through the menus, when the Steadi Op pulled me up suddenly and said that he wanted to see that menu structre on the Carrion again, after playing around we both worked out that the 8.4" Steadicam Monitor on his Ultra ($8500USD) was exactly the same panel (and menu structure) as the Carrion ($1945)......The steadi Op asked me straight away for the details of the monitor so he could buy one......but i had to warn him of the drama's we've all had so far......!
But it is exactly the same monitor (just different housing).....!
So its a good monitor..... if you can get your hands on one.......!

I know for a fact that it isn't. He very likely copied the menu and he searched long and hard for a screen that would be as good or better as the Pana. He designed it using the Pana as his benchmark.

There was a through review a while back by a respected magazine which concluded they were extremely close in terms of the screen but the Carrion's was ever so slightly better mostly from the better viewing angle. However the Pana has the graphs so it is all about the money when you compare them. And the other thing.

That said, it is very sad to see the rest hasn't improved at all. I hope you guys get your monitors or your money soon. It really saddens me, and it is even worse cause the monitor rocks.

If luis improves his shipping process. I would buy 2nd unit anytime..this LCD rocks big time..love it !
 
I'm currently trying to buy a second one!

You may all call me a fool, but the wait wasn't quite that bad when I got my first one, and they're sooo good I had to get another when the time came.

Am slightly concerned as to when I'll see it (been nearly five months so far!), but there's no monitor out there that can beat it on price...

WOW! I am amazed over this thread. I keep coming back now and then to read about you miserable ones hahaha. I was very close in buying these but went with Astro's instead and they're really really good... a lot pricier but at least mine are out working, making a living for me.

I do feel for you but this thread is starting to become a classic and I am starting to giggle a little about the whole thing, my apologies.

I believe that Bruce Allen knows the one you all want to speak to, so why don't you ask him to talk to him? I could be wrong but I do think I recall Bruce talking about being at his house?
