  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

If I had spent 3 months sitting around, dreaming up improbably ideas for vaporware rumors, I could never have come up with anything as ambitious as these products.

QUESTION:
any estimates on the base price for a functional scarlet camera? (w/fixed lens, viewfinder/lcd of somesort/means of recording)?
the original concept of having a scarlet cam you could pop out of the box and start recording right away for $3000.. how close are we still to that figure?
 
Hey, something just occurred to me...we'll finally get volume on these accessories, bringing the price down! Sweet! These accessories should be comparatively cheaper than the Red ones!

but it might only be stills... though I would not be surprised if we get video at that resolution in the next decade... just gotta make sure you have a teraflop or two under your hood to cut that bitch online! HAHAHA

but again it will likely be stills for a while at least... I love the dual 1080 EVF for 3D!

28K at up to 25 FPS sure sounds like motion to me.

Seriously, this is the scorched earth policy of new camera announcements. Unbelievable. Not content to simply rest on your laurels and stick with a piddling 3, 4 or 5K camera. I mean sure, I was expecting that someone would come out with a massive digital motion camera at some point. Just in 10 years or so. And I never thought I'd see 28K in motion.

As someone who shoots large format photographs, that brings joy to my heart, even if there's no way I can afford one right now (or maybe ever).

Regardless, I think it's pretty safe to say that the market has changed.

What I love about 28k is that I cannot even fathom 8k..much less 9k..28 fuckin k???? Right about now the competition execs are going Walter Sobchak "Has the whole world gone CRAZY! Am I the only one who gives a shit about the rules??":bye2:
