So far I'm impressed by the Komodo-x. I'll do some more images tests but what I can tell coming from DSMC2 world is the improoved respondness of the camera. Magnify, playback... are instantenaous. Enven on the RedControl the reactivness is like on the camera itself. Scrolling through clips are like it should be : fast and easy.

I'm using the camera at 1600 iso. If you pixelpeep at 4x you can see noise but using 200 iso to have it clean you'll kill the highlights. 25600 isn't usable (12800 plus push 1 stop) so... so far... I settled at the my sweet spot between 1000 and 1600 iso.

I forget to say. This beast is tiny (4x smaller than an arriS35)

See you
Pat

Thanks for the review Patrick! It seems both you along with Leonardo Newman are rating this Camera or maybe all RED camera at 1600 ISO for best results.

I actually typically rate at 800. I expose at higher ISO's to protect highlights only if the situation calls for it. Just did a random shoot on Raptor where I shot the same image at 3200 ISO and 1000 ISO, I cannot see the noise difference on my 55-inch. It's quite mind-boggling.

Thanks for the correction Leonardo, sorry for the misunderstanding.

The Red Control App is just ridiculously good. It is more responsive than dedicated monitors for changing settings and things compared to any of the more expensive in camera monitor options right now. I know Jarred has talked a lot about this, and really wants to improve the current monitor situation so hopefully they make it happen. An in camera monitor that feels like using Red Control would be amazing. I have found myself using it really often for personal projects because it’s just so simple and effective.

Quick test footage of the X filming at it's highest frame rate, 240. Despite the grain, it's lookin' pretty good!

Used an Aputure MC and the TT Artisan 35mm to film this

This is our second camera test with Red Komodo X and a few Leica R lenses in a very "real time" environment. This was meant to emulate some of our unplanned moments with unknown lighting situations. Red handles mixed lighting and skin tones better than any mirrorless solution we use. This is a great test for a bunch of our work.

Hope this helps
