GL Optics Sigma 18-35 Rehoused - Group Buy

Compared to most of my lenses, its pretty heavy. But this is also the first lens I own that comes close to a real cine lens.

Weighs in at 3.16 ibs.

Can't wait to get mine (300 rotation in late Nov.)

Mine arrived a couple days ago (120 and PL) and I am quite impressed. Quite heavy for its overall size, but excellent construction. Hope ya'll get yours soon!

Hello,

I've not read all the thread but I'm wondering if GL optics decided to do a

18-35mm Nikon mount with metric marks 300°?

Pat

How about any form of medium zoom (24 to 70, thereabouts) that can be parfocal, cover Dragon, and have 300 degree focus turn? For under 4K?

If anyone can do it...its you Nan!

There are rumors about a Sigma f2 24-70 FF lens coming out soon. If the lens matches the 18-35, Nan will definitively rehouse it. Otherwise, he will try to rehouse the Nikon 24-70. Can't comment on the price, since obviously we don't have any info on the new Sigma zoom, and the Nikon is a) quite expensive itself and b) very difficult to rehouse. There's a reason why the Ruby, a rehoused 14-24 Nikon lens, costs ~10.000USD.

I have asked him and others to rehouse nikon 28-70 or canon 24-70 year ago. Nobody is keen to do it. How can Full Frame Sigma match 18-35 ? Will it be f2.0 ? ;-)

I sort of wish he would do the Sigma 70-200 as well - to better match the new 18-35. I know he does the Canon 70-200 but it is $6K. :-( Of course, I am not sure the Sigma could be much cheaper so, perhaps, I'll just have to leave the Sigma 70-200 I already own "un-cinevized."

Weekly update (on 300 Degree) please

If we're doing requests I'd plump for the Nikon 14-24; Something more robust than the Nikon housing (I already wore one out!) and cheaper than the Focus Optics $10k incarnation would be good….

BTW I have my 18-35 in my hands and am loving it already! A solid lens.

Will ask Nan for some updates. Afaik he already got all the parts and is working on the lenses.

Hey Dav,
Can you please ask nan for an update on 300d version please, its going to be a month and no update (SAD).
Hopefully he is on time on this one.

cheers

Hi David.

I know I'm too late to join the group buy but please keep me in mind if someone drops out and you end up with a 18-35 without a home :) I'm very keen and ready to purchase.

BTW: do you know the front diameter of the 300d version?
Thanks
Alex
