GL Optics Sigma 18-35 Rehoused - Group Buy

wait for the rumoured sigma 24-70 F2 lens. Its fast and would be a good match to the 18-35mm

The problem with the new 24-70 f2 is the optical images stabilization. This element has to be "fixed" to make it workable, but Nan will try his best.

Also you can start buying GL optics lenses from my store, which might be handy for European customers, since I'm based in Germany, so they don't have to pay any customs

Half stop is not much Jiri, and can be worked on when fully rehoused form scratch, Nan does not do rehousing like some others do, He literally builds an entire housing for it, He does not just de-click the lens and add a Focus Ring on top of the existing one, so this could be not an issue at all.

Most importantly David do you know what 24-70 will Nan use?

If He is to use the Canon 24-70, is He going with the original one or the new MKII?

Just like to know because I just got a 24-70 MkII for this reason, if not I'll seal it.

But ultimately I know I wanted to have a 24-70 and 70-200 PL glass.

Hi Ketch,

Nan will try to rehouse the new Sigma 24-70 f2, but again, he can't promise that he will be successful. We talked quite a lot about the issue on skype. The image stabilization feature also prohibited him to rehouse the new Sigma 120-300. Again, more news to come when the group buy 18-35 300 degree lenses got shipped.

You mean the hypothetical Sigma 24-70 F2? :wink5:

Cool.

why not the nikon 24-70 2.8 af-ed g superior optical quality and no image stabilization best 24-70 ever made

There's a reason why the Ruby costs <10.000USD and nobody rehoused yet the Nikon 24-70. The Nikon zooms are quite complicated lenses to rehouse.

All of the 300 degree 18-35 lenses will be shipped between December 14th and December 25th.

Best ever made was Nikon 28-70mm f2.8 called the "Beast". No telescoping forward. Very nice lens, bit heavy. Together with current 17-35mm f2.8 and 80-200mm f2.8 top notch glass.

Have anyone seen the 300* version? I'm about to buy one, but I think it would be nice to know what I'm buying...

I received my invoice from Nan (today), Paid and now waiting for tracking info
will test and report back

I tested the first 300 degree prototype of the Sigma 18-35 at IBC this summer. Of course, at that time, the mechanics were not finished, but the lens felt very robust, sturdy and without backlash.

I didn't Kwan. Just stuck with the PL.

I ordered PL/ Nikon(for BMCC)
Can't wait to test this combo with my DIY 3 Axis brushless Gimbal

Here are some photos of the 300 degree version
