Bot & Dolly created a fairly unique and lovely short using their IRIS and SCOUT motion control robots that utilizes a live actor and projection mapping.

It was shot in 4K, but couldn't find exactly what camera.

Certainly worth a viewing for sure.

this just straight up pulled my brain from my body and rattled it around in the ether. This is totally bananas. The amount of planning and execution is insane. Love it.

Crazy work and beautifully done.
Is it a projection on the 2 panels or are they large TVs you think ?
I see the floor projection, but if they also projected on the 2 surfaces they must have used 5 robots in action simultaneously...

My understanding is that its all projected - so yes minimum five robots... plus synced lighting, playback etc... and the planning required to visualise, pre-render and then execute is pretty immense. :)

I just got mesmerized by that piece for the past 5 minutes. Great music and sound design too.

I've been doing so much motion and camera tracking recently I kept thinking about how to create those results with compositing, rather through projection mapping.

My biggest question is - do you think all those animations were pre-rendered then displayed based on a motion controlled camera rig, or were they live projection mapped and rendered in real time based on the location and axis data of the camera filming the action?

All is prerendered I'd say with 90% of certainty but who knows...

Not sure how they can project from below when he first lift the box... But then it can be a different 'box' if we assume all was not done in a single shot and they have edit point at the chapter

The end of teleportation at 3:45 is truely magic.

Actually it's 100% in camera, which is what makes it amazingly beautiful

Nice

I'm having a hard time understanding what I'm seeing. Pre-visualization would be an understatement to say the least.

BRAVO!!!!!
