  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon misconceptions and clarification...

Awesome Jim!

Cheers!

Jim and RED team, you guys change the game 7 years ago everybody else have to follow, now with dragon you really went to another level, if everything stop here, will be very happy shooting with dragon for ever....

I hope dragon isn't the last upgrade for the Epic brain.
Remember 7 years ago, Obsolescence obsolet, this is why we took the plundge no?

You never cease to inspire me with your vision of a better imaging world. That has been a constant throughout this journey. The rest is just noise.

You've done what you started out to do, even went beyond that. You don't owe anyone anything. Feeling beat up? Get out. Enjoy your life. You've earned it. Reconnect with true friends and family. Hand Jarred the keys and walk off into the sunset, and don't look back knowing that you've changed this small part of the world.

Unless you don't want to, then stick around and keep stirring the pot and pissing people off while creating game changing products.

Your choice.

Congrats again Jim, you clearly have a vision and everything it needs to make it come true. That alone is outstanding and inspiring.
You did not only make the best camera(s) come to live, you also achieved to set landmarks in communication to and with your customers, you call them your RED-family. That says alot about the man behind all this. It feels great to be a tiny little part of this RED-family, this is not just a bonus on top of having one of the best cameras in my hands.

And thats another impressive achievement you've reached, you made the best technology affordable to nearly everyone. It still blows my mind that i have access to all this, even playing with the idea about upgrading to a Dragon-EPIC, the one and only very best motion camera on this planet. Crazy, really. Add the smile i have when i shoot and look at footage, yeah it's still exciting, even after one year with my Scarlet. This thing rocks and is the single best buy i ever made.

With this you've touched many lives in a very positive way, probably changed a lot of them, offered them chances and roads to a career of which people only have dreamed about before RED.

There are so many other things that make RED different and better than others, i don't find the right words and forgot a few things.

A f*cking big THANK YOU isn't enough.

Yeah, you could retire, but please don't stop here. ;)

Thanks for the clarification. I'm excited to send my camera in.

As grandiose as it sounds, I want to help change the world for the better with my camera. Thanks for working so hard to build the last camera I'll ever need... unless of course you make the form factor even smaller ;)

Thank You Mr. Jannard.

I am just a little guy who owns a single Scarlet, but it is one of the best cameras I have owned. I cannot wait for the Scarlet Dragon. (5k at 60 fps is just fine for a "hobbyist" such as myself.)

Thank you for providing a great tool for the world.

PS, I still don't think people who don't use the camera understand the RED workflow. It is difficult to communicate how versatile the RAW image really is.

Jim,

What I love about what you have achieved is that I have a camera I can shoot personal footage with capable of showing on any cinema screen in the world and then the next day I can take that same camera and shoot a 300 million dollar feature.
As far as Dragon goes we love what we have shot with it so far.

The rest of what I have to say to you is too personal to put here. But thanks doesn't quite cover it...

Bula,

Peter

Wish i will be able to upgrade to Scarlet/Epic Dragon.
As a (mainly) documentary filmmaker, it's going to be an even better tool than MX, with more flexibility in urgent and/or difficult lighting situations.

Theoretically speaking Jim, you can never be retired because the work you've done has enabled so many to do work as content providers that indirectly, your work continues.

Sorry, but you are destined to continue working forever. '-)

Best one-line summation of Dragon I've read yet.

Typo fixed... heh heh.

Jim

Thank you for a marvelous camera system! Love the idea of a low-con LP filter.
(..and I think it´s funny that you are calling Jarred your "closet buddy" :)

This is the dilemma isn't it...

Jim

About the low-con filter idea. Can it be user installed or switched out? The option sounds great to have it or not.

I remember old time, when I used the shitty panasonic HVX200 with mini35 and ZEISS MK1...
75 ISO, soft focus, but I have blur in the back ground...
I was very happy about the footage... HD, Ho my god HD...

Now it's Dragon time!!!
Thanks Jim, Thanks Jarred!
You give us a wonderfull tool!!!
