  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The funny thing is, Mark is just now going to bed in Australia so there will be 8 hours of workday questions and angst from this half of the planet for Mark when he wakes up. He'll be thinking, "What did I sign up for?" :mad2:

Truthfully, he'll do the tests he had planned and once the images start being posted, that will answer most of the BIG questions.

Going to bed now... :) Finally ! had 80 emails to get through.

oooh... and don't think I'm out trying to shoot stunning beautiful images for you all, or anything for the RED marketing team. My testing is more rudimentary down and dirty stuff, far from scientific and don't ask me about aspect ratios or colour sciences. There are guys way more experienced than me that can answer all that crazy tech nerd tuff. I'm just studying the picture in general.

I'm purely looking to find out where EPIC DRAGON starts to let me down and where it excels. Just how far can I push before it falls apart and where it saves the day... All my testing is designed just so I can understand the perimeters I need to work within to get the perfect image.

This is not a HDRX shoot, Someone else can do that. :)

Will you be starting a new thread for the Toia tests, please? This one is getting a little cluttered.

I love the post where you put up the RAW file images with the retrieved data. Would like to see similar color DRAGON versions.

Also, the MX/Dragon side-by-side comparison would be a huge service. I think those will be the "pictures worth a thousand words" (or in this case, pictures worth $9500....)

Rest easy, yonder beta tester. Those 80 emails are probably about to explode exponentially.

i was SO hoping for something like that on that side of things....is that because of the new RCX or because the dragon files are more efficient or easy to work with?
that is awesome....how about file sizes/compression? that was supposed to improve quite a bit as well, correct?
 
Jarred, will the forum get a section specifically for Dragon? Seems like a good place to put Mark's coming new thread.

I had an idea once


"Dragons shot on Dragons" Someone I convince Red to let me borrow one and I go to Komodo Island on a 2 week self funded doc to play with dangerous lizards...


Do some shark week stuff... Test some myths regarding the Komodo Dragons...See whether they attracted to say noise, different kinds of food...


Basically think shark week meets lizards... I got a Scarlet that I'm converting into Epic...but dude I totally need a Dragon just to shoot Dragons with...I mean its an excellent play on words...
 
I seriously hope the big Dude eat only battery power and SSDs, but not flesh of beta testers and cinematographers. Come back alive and well.

Toia, don't forget compression tests... We've been told 12:1 is ultra clean still...

...gauuuugh... he's gone isn't he? He won't see this until after he's shot... Drat.
