  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is there anybody out there...... Hello... hello...

Red is quiet on the forum these days but I don't agree with your analysis. My guess is they are just mad busy getting the next thing out the door. FYI The Chinese new year is February 10... The year of the Dragon officially begins! Maybe we will see one soon?

As competition heats up, road maps and updates are going to become scare. Their last post of showing a glimpse of dragon turned a little ugly outside of this forum with nay-sayers proclaiming that it is typical Red hype accompanied by zombie-like fan boys responses. You have to admit that it has calmed down lately. I think it is very fitting that Jarred is called "The Fire Chief" because it seemed he was just putting out fires ever since the price decrease and Scarlet upgrade path.

Been very very quiet from the RED corner.

Know information love like the old days.

The main men are now ghosts...

Confirming that this Forum may have run its corse.

Sad to see, As it was alot of fun when it lasted.

Mark, I don't know if this is the information you're longing for, but Trent has been answering questions like a mad man regarding the new firmware build.....isn't that some "love"?

Hardly a confirmation that the Forum has run its course. It's still useful in 100 different ways other than simply getting tid bits from Jarred or Jim.

I see this as Mark doing a bit of friendly taunting :) Let's hope it works. He's right about it being quiet for sure, but sorry Mark I believe you're wrong about this forum running its course. The Salt III lens test results just posted and although it may not be that useful to a seasoned DP such as yourself, countless others learned a shitload from that one post. The amount of effort and community participation was impressive... From Red to Duclos to Phil Holland (whose comments I found particularly thoughtful and insightful) and all the other folks from this forum that spent their free time to put that test together. That's what Reduser is all about. Don't write it off just yet :) Here's to hoping we get some fresh news from Red soon!

Your probably right... Yes its still a good place for the newbie to troll threads looking for answers to problems and for outside manufactures to sell there wears...
News bits form the outside world slip in, People are selling Alexa's and F35's, lenses etc... So yes Jonathon, your right. it's still useful for that.

RED NEWS has gone from once a week to once every 3 months...

But I very much miss the good old days, when Jim or Jarred would jump into a conversation out of the blue... A sneaky picture of the future would slip into a post....
A conversation would start and 50 people climb in getting dirty...

Anyway... regardless of all that, It's no way near the same fast and furious place it use to be, were people couldn't wait to get home form work to log in...

I miss the excitement of the old days. :)

I'm just busy. Lots going on. I keep an eye on the forums for any particular subjects that respond well to my input.

If you think things are a bit moribund, try "alternative imaging methods" over on dvinfo.net. That section once hosted the hottest and longest thread after a film maker in Guatamala named Agus Casse posted some pics of a gadget he made out of sandpapered CDs and salvaged bits and pieces to build a poorman's Mini35.

Everyone be quiet,

Graeme needs to concentrate while he is implementing the new fantastic WiFi 3Dlut import module into the new upcoming red gamma 4 that will be possible to use both onboard camera for viewing and in RCXP.

And Jarred can not be here as he is not only finishing the final bits for the red pro mattebox that has that nice swing away barn door and nice rubber donut, he is also doing the final testing of the new redmote Iphone app, that comes with a "onscreen suctioncup FF wheel" that stick right onto the front of your I phone and the whole red office is filled up to the rim with dragons upgrades, that now will start to ship and be delivered within a couple of days after order. The funny thing is that the dragon update also includes a 2k proress module that has a +1 EVF module inside. So basically there is so much new stuff at the RED office so jared ha no chance to even reach over to his computer....

At least that's what I wish is happening :emote_happyhappy:

I was just thinking that there hasn't been any news from Red for a while. I was feeling a little out of touch with them and sad... so I ordered a pack of RedVolts and a Quad Charger. Ahh, that's better. It does totally feel like the calm before the storm. What next, boys?

Damn I remember that thread!!!!!!

Remember if they aren't here, they are very busy where they are. There's a lot of stuff going on at Red right now. They are busy bees trying to build a lot at the moment.

Personally, I hope they are taking at least a bit of their time to go over to visit the ODEMAX guys and kick some butt! Those guys need to get on track!!

I miss Jarred dropping the silhouetted photos for people to devour in photoshop trying to find something in a black blob. My guess they are working their asses off. We'll survive..

I still can't erase from my memory the purple spiderman climbing out of focus in background. It's coming back... in dreams, you know :)

Here is where it all began, even for the original RED, the affordable 35mm aspiration.
