  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I've used an HDMI extension from monoprice. It's female on one end, male on the other. It isn't super long or thin, but it saves a lot of wear and tear on the HDMI port on the camera body.

They also have great prices on 90 degree adaptors and other HDMI connectors.
 
Love to see pics of people's rx setup, trying to figure how I am going to do my rig.

powered from the AC7 USB port, It 'underpowers' it somewhat as i THINK the USB port only does 1A (at least the DP6 did) and the Paralinx TX gives best results with 2A output ie an external source battery source such as Mophie Juice packs etc. TIP! dont forget to turn un USB power in the SmallHD's menu! :-)

The transmitter is powered off a Viewfactor USB adapter off the Anton Bauer battery

Thats a home made cable from Mini USB to DC and the HDMI is a 0.8m Hyperthin cable (love em) which if you open the LP-E6 battery plate up and notch a couple fo holes you can snake the cable inside the battery plate for a neater, tangle free wiring job. (if im giving these rigs to agency and clients i want it as NEAT and fuss free as possible)

!!Reminder that only the transmitter powers off USB, the receiver uses a DC socket. AND always chk the voltage for either doesnt exceed 5.15V as some dodgy USB sources can output more than either of them like!

Interesting. I couldn't power the receiver at all with even some 5V2A batteries. Also, by sharing the monitor batteries probably give an hour maybe two of total power? The toughest part is definitely powering the receiver adequately. I have a solution but its a bit bulky. Perhaps the reliable Tekkeon battery is the way to go.

were you powering the receiver via the DC socket not USB? USB port on the RX is for firmware etc only. Ive taped up all the other ports so I or my assistants dont even go there :-)

Havent had much time with the AC7 power yet so cant tell how often to change vatts but with the DP6 on all day we prob had to swap the 2 LP-E6 batts maybe 3 times a day? maybe 4? so at least a couple of hours out of them maybe.

Perhaps once theyre back in stock perhaps the larger, flat SmallHD batteries could work as they have 2 DC outputs?? may give proper 2A? one advantage of powering from the monitors own USB port is one power switch for all! you switch it on or off the receiver is off too :-)
 
Just a quick note…

This thing is awesome. Just got mine this morning, had it set up and running within five minutes. I set my camera up in my living room and walked to the other side of the house carrying the monitor. Absolutely zero interference and no latency/dropped frame issues at all.

Great job Dan and the Paralinx team!

beware that out of the box it's a piece of crap, and I had to modify it extensively to get it like this and where parts were not falling off.

Abel Cine has a ton of nice brackets and handles, and I think Nebtek too.
 
I have been experiencing some problems with my paralinx. I get green and red smudy artifacts. Skin tones get a green overlay. Sometimes they disappear but most of the time they are visible and disturbing.
I was wondering if someone else is experiencing similar problems.

That's not normal Koray - if you can email us at info@paralinx.net we can set up an RMA for you. Have you tried different hdmi cables on both sides? What camera are you using and what monitor? Either way that is not normal and we will help you get it straightened out.
