CHANGES to RED ROCKET installer SINCE LAST RELEASE:

  • RED Rocket™ now supports DRX (with updated software)

excellent, thanks for all the hard work.

Any news on the next major Epic firmware release (flip screen option included?)?

Thanks for linking to my post Michael.

I saw this thread and thought it was going to answer my question. Sadly not yet...

Not all bad though. The remembering of audio track selection per clip will be useful - needed that the other day.

And great to see DRX support.

Cheers,

Charlie

What actually does DRX do?

When you clip your highlights, not all channels clip equally. This will be evident by the dreaded pink highlights. This for me is usually the dead give away of RED footage. DRX will align the 3 color channels and align them to actually clip them white. Just adjust the slider and you will see the far right of the histogram align the 3 channels. When using the RR card I was manually adjusting the histogram myself to do the same thing.

Continued problems with 10.8.2. Frozen frames, sudden drop out of playback, general unresponsiveness. My bad for upgrading to new OS too soon, but I haven't been able to properly grade in RedCineX for weeks now. Frustrating.

Same here. You can get one battled tested for 3k, but don't forget you'll want a breakout box to go HDSD out to a color grading monitor.
I wonder if a new Red Rocket card will ever come out? At this point its what 4 years old? I want to invest in one but I'm sure the day after I get one you guys will announce the RR 2! :)

Can someone at Red give us some kind of indication when the Rocket drivers will be fixed to work with OS X 10.8.2? Please?

We are working hard with Apple on fixing the problem. RED is not the only hardware that has issues with 10.8.2 and Thunderbolt. They enabled some new things with 10.8.2 that is causing issues unfortunately.

As soon as we have an update we'll let everyone know. Apologies for the frustration, we want to get this fixed as much as you do.

For up to 2K you can use the HD-SDI bracket included with the Rocket

Build 4 is the big one coming.. December sometime. Power Management, 1:1 joystick zoom, long exposures, timelapse, pre-record and ramping are just some of the highlights... which also includes your image flip Will :)

For some people.. this is one of those builds that will be like a new camera all over again....
