Just saw tonight's episode and I have to say the shots I shot with the EPIC look better then the Alexa. Towards the END of the episode, Deb on the beach was EPIC. And all of the new EXT. of the station, EPIC.
Also last week, the scene on the dock with DEB and DEX (metro in the BG) all EPIC.

I love this thing!

Ha! I could swear it all was Alexa, but here you go. I was thinking to myself something like "oh well, I guess I get now why TV people are so in love with Alexa, aside from the quick 1080p prores thing, that highlight rolloff is pretty". Looks like another example of successful intercut footage from those two cameras.

Hahaha, they will be intercutting EPIC footage all year.. the majority is Alexa.

Cant wait until the Meizler mod comes out!!

Justin, do you shoot for the show? I watch it every week.

They had a few days in Miami, I did a bunch of b-roll and some shots that you will see over the season.. I don't work on it regularly.. They shoot in LA.

Oh I can only imagine. I look forward to 2013, when Dragon + Meizler would bring some healthy darn competition not only to the big screen, but also TV scene. I like the images from newer Arri and Sony sensors, though I bet "dragonized" Epics with the M-module will be busy killing it in every field.

And credit should also be given to final colorist Joe Cook at Technicolor, who's been doing the show from the very beginning. Joe does a terrific job, particularly on the fast-paced schedule they have for this series.

The turnaround is crazy! He does do a great job.. The show shoots 10-14 pages a day, it's pretty nuts..

I only just started watching this show recently on Netflix season 1, now on season 5. I would have sworn everything was shot in Miami so did they just recently move to LA for the new season or something? That's an awful lot of b-roll of Miami if it's still supposed to take place down here!

Wow.. Surprised to hear that.. Especially from a Floridian. Been in LA since season one. Look at the trees, we don't have the crazy tall palms that are all over dexter. They are very smart in there use of the b-roll. You will begin to notice the same shots season after season..

I heard they shot all seasons in LA - Manhattan beach. I think they shoot only Miami on B-roll, exterior scenes - beach, trees, etc

Some Manhattan Beach, but the majority is here in Long Beach. I live in Belmont Shore and they shoot here all the time. I'll shoot some pics next time... By the way, CSI: Miami was shot almost entirely in Long Beach. The most recent Digital Video mag had an article on Dexter and they discussed shooting most of it in Long Beach for location work and the other 8 days per episode at Sunset Gower studios.

just glad they moved away from the f23's... man it looked really bad when still on that cam. the highlights got to be such a blobby disgusting mess sometimes. really digging the look this season. alexa and epic.

Yeah it's crazy! I was out there visiting family in LB this past summer and there were a lot of shows filming. Dexter, CSI:Miami, some set-ups for Sons of Anarchy etc.....

Matt, isn't Fangtasia from True Blood there as well?
