  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Funny you should ask that.

Element Technica actually made something called the Kitchen Sink Box for the Atom... I was at Hector and Pizzos shop one day and they showed me the prototype of it, as soon as I saw how incredible that thing was, I knew we could take the wireless video and audio and proxy bits we were working on and integrate them all into one ultimate bad-ass module, to address some of the issues the camera teams on productions were having with the incredible mess of cables surrounding a camera completely built up.

I sat down with Hector, Pizzo and of course Steven Meizler to hash things out , and that is how the Meizler box was born.
 
I was just wondering how ET got into the mix with Red and now i know =D but i still have Q's about some Better wireless stuff ;)

This sounds very good, I guess this is a confirmation that the Epic still works with the Atom even with this module attached? It looks quite large and heavy, that's why I ask... since the Atoms was built for Red Epic, and I would guess that it would not allow for a different form-factor?

BTW: Lens motors: can Red give us some love that's not insanely priced? Would be great!
 
Right now the Element hand controller ( THC ) and the Heden lens motors work with the Meizler. Over the next month others will come up.

Good to know Jarred, because we really like the cMotion to work with it, sold my ET Controller, even so it was great, especially considering the price, it can't compare top the level of control of the cMotion system, so truly looking forward for it to be one of the next controllers to work with the Meizler.
 
Cmotion and Preston are at the top of the list.. but until they are programmed in, we arn't going to say they will work :)
 
is there any way to use RED touchscreens wirelessly with the Meizler module?

Did not read entire thread. Is there a word from RED about it?
 
Red should add RTMotion and Bartech hand controllers as well as Preston and CMotion.

Highend controllers are nice but with the number of owner operator growing, middle-end is the upper limit.
Bartech already has thousand of units outhere, RTMotion is soldout for months. I'm sure they is money to be made.

Any words about the HDMI stream ? Will it be compatible with non-Red receiver ? I own several of them
I would be sad to sell them, they are praticly new.
 
Couple of questions:

- Is the wireless video to the red receivers over 5GHz wi-fi (like a teradek) or just a secure RF signal? The teradeks have been some what unreliable depending on the interference in the area.

- Does the Meizler stream video to the ipad/iphone, or does it just connect for control of the camera. Glad to hear you can still hardwire an ipad to the camera incase the wifi in the area is too jammed up.

- Proxy files are just recording the HDSDI output correct? That's why it can't record offspeed while shooting. So if you output an overlay like timecode of the HDSDI output of the epic, then it will be recorded in the proxy files, correct?

Something I can never figure out is this, how big is the physical 3Ality Hand unit? Is it heavy? Can you give a rundown of what you like about it vs the other units mentioned? I am still on hands on ff units but I am switching to the darkside one day. I have more 'RED' stuff I would like first. If super busy don't sweat it, I know you are all super busy.
