  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB 2012...

I just realized i booked my flight ASS BACKWARDS!!!

Im arriving wed the 11th and leaving mondya the 16th the first day of NAB! (don't leave until 4 so i can run thru NAB)

Well at least Ill make the Reduser party.. Sunday!!
 
Damn! This is the first year I'll be shooting the NAB convention! My schedule won't be my own... I'm going to need a provision in my schedule to come to the booth... Maybe I'll just tell the client that the RED booth is the only thing we should cover.. Ha ha ha ha ha! Can't wait!

I expect that there will be long lines this year... really long lines. And totally worth the wait.

How bout a wrist band or special entrance for Red owners. Membership has privileges.
 
Jim, save a spot for me Monday afternoon, shooting with 3 epics and 2 scarlets has gotten me busy till then! :biggrin:
 
Quite a few actually. And the number of people working with RED footage or touched by RED is probably an astounding number considering we have no idea what we are doing. :-()

We can't hold open special treatment for RED customers at NAB primarily because it encompasses just about the whole industry.

Damn.... Triple threat indeed! Dragon, 4k projector, and the Hobbit! Guaranteed line ups!
 
For those of you talking about checkbooks I wouldn't get your hopes up. RED just came out with a camera they had been talking about for 3-4 years and the modules still aren't fully available.

Red is more likely to announce something that they are starting to develop than to show you something at NAB that's ready to be shipped, especially when you consider the fact that the EPIC is currently the best camera you can buy from a resolution/DR/size/cost point of view.

Anyway thats just my two cents for those of you who might be letting your imaginations run wild
 
The only thing that would get my afterburners really firing at NAB would be to see the thing that will keep the EPIC as a camera that can make images that aren't bettered by it's competitors:

I hope not, they have been working on Redray, red laser projector, dragon sensor upgrade and ff camera for years, and do not forget the free 3d firmware upgrade for existing cameras. On the future roadmap, shown last year, I think most were due around now (this year), for at least an announcement. The low light comparison between the c300 and the x show a more usable naturalistic image for the c300 (but can be much better), for expensive cine production it might be irrelevant, but for the rest of us it is an revelation, and minimumal for production value use. For documentary making, it was my original intention to adapt a medium format lens, or larger, collimated down, to achieve the same effect, I could still do this for cheap hdr cameras.

Monstro was originally slated to ship 6 months after MX-Epic. MX-Epic is just wayyyyy behind schedule. You have to remember that MX has been out for more than 2 years. In electronics terms that makes the Epic's chip ancient. And Dragon was announced a year ago. The only thing that would suggest that they aren't going to take Dragon Preorders at NAB is that RED announced they aren't doing pre-orders anymore and it's probably not ready yet to ship.
