  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDgamma3 and REDcolor3 update...

Can't wait to give RC 3 RG3 a shot! looking forward to it!

Hmm. Awfully quiet last couple of days. Must means RC3 & RG3 are getting close to coming out of the oven.

I am thinking that tomorrow's Bomb Squad meeting might have something to do with this release? Pure speculation on my part.

Any chance there will be an update to the Red One MXs that will provide this on-camera? Or instead, will there be an update that will allow the live output of the Epic or Scarlet to better match the live output of the Red One MX?

I might not be asking this question correct, but here's the problem I am seeking help for - I am shooting some live shows with R1 MXs, Epics, and Scarlets and need the live output to all match better than what we are getting.

#1, I am loving the ability to corect them all in RedCine, BUT when we are sending them live HD SDI into a switcher we don't have good matches - and that is something I need.

Warning: to any newbies here, don't take my comments to mean this can't be done - it might already be achievable, - but I certainly haven't figured it out. I'll humbly take any help I can get. : ) And I do love the new color science!
Best,
lael

To some extent, they would match with the same gamma and colorsetting, but in the extremes they will differ because the cameras difer, even though the sensor is the same.

I can see why we haven't gotten RG2/RLF on MX R1. And I can also take a guess at why RG3 seems like a better candidate for R1MX/M

Cheers!

So when do we get back the Alchemy functions in RCX?

+1

Ramesh, your right!! I just opened RCX to grade some clips.... and Alchemy is gone!! prompting "Not licensed for use -- disabled." where the Alchemy Slider was.
Maybe we'll get RCX 11 today with RC3 / RG3. and Alchemy back.

I use Alchemy in almost every clip, it's now part of my workflow, and as a working professional for me it's important that I can trust the workflow I use.
IMHO, Alchemy is now an important tool for many of us, disabling it means, at least for me, that a have to stop my Work or go back to where we where before....

Don't get my wrong, I love you RED and all the incredible new stuff we get from you like RC3/RG3, but until then please bring Alchemy back.

Yeah I use Alchemy in every clip also so this is a bummer. I guess for now it's more or less all right since I don't have to export anything in the next day or so. Though I have been waiting for RC3 and RG3...

Perhaps after their Team Meeting today they will let us in on the licensing for use, and what its future holds...if I have to pay I will -a useful ploy by Jim to get us addicted to the feature set! ...Sure go ahead and use it for free for 3 months. Now I'm Jonesing for it!

I'm feeling an announcement and or release of this on the same day Canon shows off their new 5D Mark III. Hehehe. Anyone? Can't wait for this new update. I'm loving shooting on my Scarlet and editing in adobe premiere pro.

I'll be honest and say that Alchemy didn't do much for me. But... Redgamma and Color 3 - I check this thread every day!

I could probably see myself licensing the alchemy group if it were inexpensive enough. Are there any plans to include traditional noise reduction in the alchemy group? I get the impression that Natress could conjure something up that would mop the floor with Neat Video/RGDenoiser...

Same question here... Could we at least get an answer on that front ? It's pretty important to be able to get consistant monitoring between Red Ones MX and Epic X if you use both on a shoot...
Thanks :)

pretty sure it was confirmed that alchemy will not cost anything $$$ in terms of "licenses". not sure what the license thing refers to but I don't think alchemy will ever cost anything
