  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDgamma3 and REDcolor3 update...

We can wait
thank you RED for continuing to make a great product better and better.

There can be all hype as can be, but the ultimate proof is the dragster footage, that was shot on the prototypes.
If this footage looks now that spectacular ... hehehehehehehehehehehehehehe

It is pretty fun opening up old files again. The original M sensor never looked so good.

Well it did and it could, but not this simple... :)

The M is a GEM!

Maybe slighly in disguise prior to B30, but after that... :)

We can wait. And one of the reasons we can wait is that what you guys are building now will work with what we shot while we waited. Or before we knew we were waiting.

or..........TIF.

I think the jpg's give us a pretty good idea of what the contrast and colorimetry of RedSpace3... we all know RED is sharp / ungraded has a solid DR. I think RedS/G3 is about just that... gamma and color... it's a great default look coming out of the monitor and a solid place to start / finish if you don't have time for a high-end DI. If you want TIF or RAW files to mess around with, export in Redcine with the filmlog and do all the color correction you want.

God that is so much better than the originals.
Not that they were awful. But images back to back?
Its another camera....Again.

You could get there with all the older color science options... but it sure is a lot easier now. Getting the color right with some of the older ones was an "art". Now it is one setting.

At 1st blush, you may just see subtle differences in REDcolor3 but it is a complete remapping of the color space and REDgamma3 makes a much better image on your monitor. It also makes a better dailies starting point... but I'm quite sure trained professionals will do a DI in REDcolor3 and REDlogFilm. REDcolor3 is probably the bigger update but REDgamma3 is a welcome improvement.

When might we get this update in Redcine X Pro?
