  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Am I the only one with a bad taste in my mouth?

Am I alone in thinking this complete lack of information on Ti canon mounts is shockingly unprofessional?

And even more in my opinion. Since Red is unable to deliver them, why won´t they offer a Al mount instead for those few who would settle for it?

1) No, you are probably not alone - but also I doubt that you are in any sort of majority. :-)

2) Everyone had a chance to choose what they wanted at the beginning. You are not being discriminated against. Those of us who chose Al mounts, and don't yet have them, might be annoyed if you were to get precedence, don't you think?

We all make choices, we live with them. No?

I don't see why someone would get upset if an order placed before them is fulfilled before them. I'm sure it upsets a lot of people who ordered early on but ordered a Ti mount seeing all these Scarlets go out with other mounts for orders placed after them. I don't understand why someone can't switch out a mount for a camera already ordered if the mount is the item holding up the order.

But that's not what he asked... and the timing of the orders is unstated.

As an aside, I asked my BS rep awhile ago if changing to a Ti mount might help push my order up. He advised me to sit tight. Seeking information can sometimes be helpful.

You said people could get annoyed if someone got precedence over someone else who originally ordered an Al mount. What scenario would someone get precedence by changing their order?

I don't understand that either, and i didn't want to switch, i wanted to ADD Al mount to my order to get scarlet a few weeks faster, and get my Ti mount whenever it'll available - no way,
can't do that without loosing my position in line;

I asked my BS rep awhile ago to change mine to a PL mount after seeing no Ti mount Scarlets ship. He said not only would that put me at the end of the queue but I would also be subject to 2012 pricing. Not only was I going to switch to a PL mount, but was going to offer RED more business by purchasing a RPZ.

Yes - that was what I was told as well - I'd go to the end of the queue. That has been their policy since the beginning of Scarlet availability. I guess the issue is whether people should be able to shift back and forth as they see which way the wind blows. Can't see how that would really work for RED, or benefit the customer base overall.

I got mine, how much do you want to pay for it... unused in it original packaging.... The Al mounts are also probably in shortage, simple as that.

That's strange considering the mount hasn't gone up in price.

The camera price has gone up. If you placed your Al EOS mount Scarlet order before the end of the year, you got last year's pricing... But you can't change the items in an order. You have to cancel the item, then place a new order. A new Scarlet order placed today will go to the end of the line and also be subject to the new price.

Terry - You don't get it - we are not shifting back and forth - we are adding MORE to our existing orders to facilitate faster shipping. I was too going to buy the RPZ... How would that NOT work for RED?

Edit:

I would also gladly take mine without a mount. I can rent a mount for less then $100,- USD per day. Now I am renting Epic body for 10x that...

God I hope you and I didn't have the same thing in our mouths.

I'm sure it works fine for Red, and they have a protocol for doing that for you: cancel the camera in your current order and place a new order for the Pl mount Scarlet and the RPZ. The other items on the existing order will remain in their place in line while the new order goes into the system as it is received.

Are you suggesting that Red should make a special case for anyone who offers a sufficient bribe? If that's the case then I guess you should have raised your offer a bit as the RPZ apparently wasn't enough. ;-)

Edit: Your rep is the person who could push it through if it were possible, and I don't think he benefits much from your RPZ buy. I'm thinking something in line with a new big 3D screen delivered in time for the Superbowl game might have been a better bet. :-)

Well, actually I think I get it and you don't.

It has been made clear that you can't ADD or CHANGE an order without slipiping to the back of the queue. You can, of course, order something additional on a NEW order and that slips into the queue as appropriate for what is available/backordered, etc. And, you can cancel something off of an existing order without penalty. You just can't SUBSTITUTE something in an existing order, e.g. a Ti mount for an Al mount, vice versa, etc.

in your case, of course you can order the RPZ; it's a new order and will be treated as such.

(One thing I'll admit I don't get - how does adding to your order "facilitate" faster shipping?)

I would only order the RPZ if I was able to order the PL mount AND my Scarlet shipped without the Canon mount. So You see - You don't get it. I do not want to change anything on my order. I just don't want the Scarlet to be held up by the Canon Ti mount. People who ordered Scarlets with Canon Al mount long after me are getting their cameras already. This month alone I have spent close to $4000,- on Epic rental to keep my jobs (and no - I did not book the jobs without having my camera - so please do not start "that" lecture as I am not complaining - just stating the reality of my (and many other's) situation...)

(One thing I'll admit I don't get - how does adding to your order "facilitate" faster shipping?)

Again - by "adding" I mean "ordering more" vs "changing my order in any way". If my Scarlet shipped now without the Canon Ti mount - I would buy the PL mount (which seams to be in stock) - or worst case rent one (10x cheaper then renting a whole camera). I hope this is clear enough...

Are you suggesting that Red should make a special case for anyone who offers a sufficient bribe?

Where did I ever say that? I was simply reacting to people saying it made no (financial) sense to RED, when the contrary is the reality.

It really boils down to why the Scarlet can not ship in the order we have placed our orders - with or without the mount. Then ship the missing components (in this case the mount) when they are available. They do this frequently on other orders. You really need to understand the frustration of people with Canon Ti Scarlet on order seeing Cannon Al Scarlets being delivered even thou they have been ordered after the Ti ones...

After all - it is not like RED does not sell (or ship) Scarlet without mount...:

Again - I am not complaining. We (Canon Ti Scarleteers) are just little frustrated. Can You blame us...? ;o)
