Interesting video Dave.
Must go with the guys comments from already:
+ is there a reason why David is using bootcamp over OSX?
+ has he tried on a supped up MacBookPro 17" Quad Core with 8GB RAM?
+ be interesting to see what the playback is like if the footage is being read through a Promise TB RAID connected through the Sonnet Chassis?
The sooner this chassis is out in the real world the better so people can do some real world testing...

We already demoed with Sonnet on the macThats why we wanted to demo something else. Anyone here see a windows thunderbolt demo before? Pretty cool that they pulled that together. When and how much are questions for Sonnet and I just bought one of the high end 15" macbook pro. That is what I develop ppro on (as do others on my team)
Cheers

Great Dave.
That's cool. Its nice to see it working on Windows, knowing that its working the same on OSX.
I suppose if your developing on OSX, then its going to all work like that - really nice to see the RED Rocket working as it does on something like a MacBook Air which always bodes well for those working on MacBookPro's. Using this method, does working with the R3D files in PP on longer timelines impact performance? I always edit in 20minute segments (similar to old reels etc) so just wondering if your editing a 90 minute feature, would you recommend breaking ti up for performance or is it working good that you could work without any performance loss in one long timeline?!?!?!?
The continual work you guys are doing with R3D files and for this community is brilliant - thank you.

While I appreciate the demo and Dave H always does a great job, I think it would be a more impressive demo if he were using the Blackmagic card to output to an HD-SDI monitor. In most of the demo's for Premiere Pro the first thing that gets "adjusted" is the fractional playback setting 1/2 1/4 1/8 to get realtime playback. From my experience with Blackmagic using an Extreme HD 3D card, there is no fractional playback. Its full resolution or nothing. This in my opinion has been the weakest link for Premiere, getting the app to work with the third party I/O vendors. Haven't seen any real improvements in the CS-5 series after a year of waiting. Anxious to see what CS-6 brings.

Does this mean that you can't use a GPU in a TB chassis even if you use it just for CUDA processing (no monitor attached) or just that you can't use it with a monitor?Currently, it's not possible to get GPU cards to work in TB chassis. [...] In the case of graphics cards (GPUs) , a lot things need to happen in order to get a monitor to light up .
That is a good question.. We don't have enough of these chassis's to work with yet...Does this mean that you can't use a GPU in a TB chassis even if you use it just for CUDA processing (no monitor attached) or just that you can't use it with a monitor?
