  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

3 weeks...

My bet is that after our November 3rd announcement... we will never, ever, be out of back-order. Ever. Really. Never... ever.

Jim

So would it be possible you're opening stage 4 ordering for
Epic-x on nov 3 also?

He he... This is really going to change things... A LOT!!

It has really only been the only complaint any one has ever done to me about RED when I try to push the camera to them as the best solution for their company...

LOVE IT!!

He he, actually I posted too fast???

Does in fact this reads Back Orders will be forever present at RED??

You have your camera... why are you annoyed?

Jim

Dont read wrong into my posts mate..... Annoyed does not mean I HATE RED!!!!!.., annoyed meaning I want more kits. But please mate... don't think for one minute I'm annoyed RED.

I was talking about back order blues... I have heaps of things I'm waiting for and about to put another order in tonight which Im sure will be backordered as well.

You made the camera mate.. you have to expect all your clients to want there gear as soon as humanly possible. thats human nature.

Also... I will never be upset with the EPIC camera! EVER!!!! I just need more of them.

Please stop being so defensive mate.. All is good here :).

Finally the plant is ready to roll on thousands of cameras...

Now we can see how RED is good to design, taylor and make a product that everyone whant to have.

A small, lightweight, handhold-able, affordable, professional digital cine/stills camera that can shoot up to 120fps and also that you can comfortably carry in your daily bag.

The imager or sensor size still remains unknown and it has to be unwrapped at Nov 3rd.

Fixed zoom lens or interchangeable?

Just waiting...!!!!

Never invest in anything unless you can make it pay a return on your investment... unless you have money to burn.

Jim

Aye but there is the trick. How long will I have to see a return on my investment? ;) If I pick up an Epic-S and then 4 months later the FF35 is announced the depreciation wouldn't make sense and I should have just rented an Epic-S as needed for a couple months. On the other hand if I pick up an Epic-S and the FF35 isn't released for over a year then I've saved money over renting on a per-project basis.

On the mutant third hand maybe I should just pick up an Epic-X and then upgrade to Dragon if Dragon is a FF35 sensor and Epic-S isn't. But once I get up into the $30k range it starts making sense again to just rent and pass along the costs to the clients.

Without a vague road map it makes it tricky to do those cost/benefit decisions. Which is why I'll be hoping to hear more about the road map on Nov 3 before putting in a pre-order.

I've wanted to own a Red camera since I saw the milk girls footage. Years later, and much jealousy later, I may be making enough money to finally do it. I can't wait for Nov. 3rd. Hopefully, I've saved enough pennies.

Invest only in a system that grows over time. Everything changes. Make sure your system does too...

Jim

I'm not in a need to return my investment but also I don't buy expensive beta cameras any more...

Finally I just want to get a small, handhold-able but so powerful enough digital/stills camera

that I don't need to cary more other cameras in my bag(s) except another Peli bag with a set of three zooms and three fast primes (of course all lenses are Leica's).

That's all.

I have just placed my first Red Store orders. I'm 100% committed and sure in Red and its future. I saw your hint in that reply, Jim: "Invest only in a system that grows over time. Everything changes. Make sure your system does too..." . This means the complete modularity of both the Epic and Scarlet systems. A win for all of us costumers. This is the true way forward.

I'm committed to purchase the Epic-X, I've already taken care of financing. But I'm sure the Scarlet will be one impressive camera that will be truly revolutionary for the independent filmmaker. It will be great to see a new generation of filmmakers making stunning 4k pictures all over the world, with cinematography that will make the established ASC's a run for their money. The better tools Red provides to us indies, the better cinema as an art will evolve. I'm passionate about filmmaking and about shooting beautiful pictures. I don't see any other way but to join the Red Revolution!!

This is THE best Teaser ever...

I believe the first one counts to Nov. 3rd. Pacific time. (12AM)

Mine, the second one, counts to the time on the 3rd, 9pm Eastern, 6pm Pacific....then again I only know it's counting right in my own timezone, not sure what others are seeing.

Ok I just take the full day of and park the ass in front of Reduser that day and hit refresh;)
