  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet (and shipping) announcement Nov. 3rd...

RED's target customer is the professional... or those that aspire to be professionals.

There are plenty of other companies that make products for those that want to dabble.

Jim

yeah, even though I know this already exists elsewhere, I still like the sound of it:

"1080p is good enough for you? Get an iPhone!"

Enjoy Nov 3rd all.

I'm glad Jim has changed the policy of announcements and the system they have created is amazing. To all you that will be ordering the scarlet..congratulations.

Unfortunatly I have not been paying attention to the latest updates and never noticed the price hike of the proposed scarlet. The specs (even the old ones) will make it great value, but I just won't be able to afford one now. For two hours yesterday though I thought I would.

Oh well, someday I'll own a Red camera and be part of the family.

Good luck all, I hope the month flies by for you all. Good Luck Jim, what you are doing and what you have already done is incredible. No doubt history will remember November 3rd, 2011. I wish I could be a part of it.

RED is the future, and the future is now!
I will still follow faithfully all that is RED, just without an actual RED camera :) All the best guys and really excited for you all!

Just sold my brand new (month old) 5D Mark II cinema package because of simply knowing there will be a big announcement on November 3rd. I don't know the updated specs of Scarlet, but if they are as good (likely better) than before I will be a very happy camper.

I have been waiting for Scarlet for over 2+ years and we are quickly approaching the dawn of a new era. It will certainly be a November to Remember!

Don't count yourself out yet.

Nothing has been officially announced.

Great idea.

By "other guys" I assume you mean Steven Soderburgh, who said that anything more than 2k is not needed?

Contagion did a 4k filmout for Imax release.

I sympathize with your faith in RED. I also have what you might call a "cinema package" (SmallHD DP6 + rig) for my 5D mkII.

I would very much like to replace my Canon with a RED product. I am an "aspiring professional".

But to replace my 5D mkII for film and stills, I need S35 or bigger. I would be EXCELLENT if I could keep using Canon glass.

Although I like HDRx and high frame rates, they are not necessary for what I do. I WANT resolution, RAW and Redcode. My problem is that I'm in the $6000 crowd.

What are your thoughts if they release a 2/3" sensor. A big change from what you had, no?

I worked (almost exclusively) with the Red One for almost 2 years so I definitely prefer and love S35, but I've worked a lot with 2/3 sensor cameras as well so I know how to work it to handle my needs. No matter what, I prefer amazing DR/ lowlight sensitivity and raw on a 2/3 sensor over any h.264 camera with any sensor size...no matter what.

I don't have as much time as you guys to debate all this stuff. Life is too short. I bought an Epic M. I'm still waiting for a few bits and pieces to make it work but I'll get this done in a few weeks. Not the years most of you have been baying at the moon for. If you took the three years you've all invested in bagging out something in development, maybe you'd have developed something for yourself.

Everything you ever wanted to hear from RED regarding Scarlet will be announced Nov. 3rd at 6pm right here.

Jim

EXCELLENT Jim! What I really want to hear is the schedule on the larger sensors; given that Epic is shipping and Scarlet is close, the next generation sensors have got to be close enough in the plan to give us that juicy bit, no? Other than that, I'm also very excited about the new projector - give it a reasonable price point and I can see HUGE applications for it. I could sell those like hot dogs at a ball game! (You did say "Everything...")

If what's in parenthesis is real, then I am the happiest "kid" in the world!

1. Do you have an employee discount?

2. If yes, would hire me please?

I've been waiting from the get go for a Scarlet - bought a RED One in the mean time...
Now, I just sold my airplane to get a pair of Scarlets... If I'm still on the 'good' list. :yesnod:
/Please let me be on the 'good' list!:drool5:
