The Riser and Audio-Riser are now shipping. The "Top mount pro" and "Power distributor" are in the works. Both accessories expand the EPIC brain to a new level, by adding the missing links: Power sockets and better accessible BNC's - enjoy!

Bottom mount featuring:

-2 x 3.5mm jack plug to Pro XLR at rear
-acts as spacer to use industry standard base plates
-accepts upcoming 15mm light weight rod assembly
-Tape measure hook on left and right

15mm light weight rod assembly featuring:

-Works with Audio-Riser
-Protects 3.5mm Audio Plugs and hides them neatly
-15mm DSMC centered standard

Top mount Pro features:

-power sockets the EPIC lacks (requires power source like a V-mount battery).
-Provides BNC connectors for HD-SDI (the current EPIC BNC is located in a difficult to get spot and this is an very important BNC)
-SS/GPI; TC; GENLOCK BNC's (rather than the small 4pin connector the EPIC uses).

Power distributor features:

-rugged Battery mount for the EPIC (V- Mount, Anton Baur, ect.); can be mounted so battery looks down for more compact configuration
-use of different power sources over RED 5pin Lemo and industry standard 4pin XLR.
-also it brings the Audio plug to a user friendly location
-provides stabilized 12V and 24V power sockets.

All milled with swiss precision and 7075 grade aluminum

That looks very interesting - especially for us europeans...

One (hopefully not too stupid) question: That whole Nato-thing is not very clear to me. What can I do with the Nato-rails on the top plate?

All the best

Jochen

Hopefully NOT what NATO does : take a lot of money from you (taxpayer)and use it to kill a lot of people. I joke, I joke- sorry couldn't resist....

Hi Frank

The cable with 3.5mm plug run INSIDE the plate and come out the front just enough to plug in (not shown in the render). The 15mm light weight rod assembly I mentioned will cover-up the plugs, so it will then be perfectly protected and it will appear that the XLR are part of the camera:)

Brian
Looking good Brian.

How are you getting the audio from the XLR to the 3.5mm? I don't see anything in the render that shows how this might happen, and am concerned about using cables terminating in a 3.5mm (I assume TRS?) plug to route the audio to the camera.

Perhaps a solid (multipurpose) mount on the front of the camera that attaches securely to the base plate?

Hi Jochen

RED accessories are NATO-style clamps. So for example you can attach the new RED Sliding Top Handle (see in the RED store). Or the other neat RED toys with NATO clamp:)

Hi Mark

The spacing is the same, but I'm not sure if the hight would be correct. I will however have a 15mm lightweight rod support that also covers up the 3.5mm Jack-Plugs so you don't have audio-cable-mess.

Brian

The spacing of the threads on the front of the bottom plate will work with Red's 15mm lightweight rod mount?

I like the idea of the XLR connectors being integrated into the plate.. Just curious if they get in the way of trying to plug in a BNC cable for the video out... it's already tricky getting in there as is... I have small fingers and often have to assist others to get the BNC into that tight space... Looks like the XLR block sits right next to that area... Do you have any photos of an actual unit on an Epic?

Photos coming soon, the parts are now in the mill:).

I really like the concept of integrating the Audio cables into the plate. 15mm LWS is also something I'm looking forward to use with my Epic. One thing that intrigues me though. Why have you decided to have the XLR inputs positioned as they are right now instead of having them on the dumb sinde of camera next to each other?

Hi Lukas

Here some thoughts why:

-protects the more fragile plugs (Hdmi, bnc, Epic-lemos) this way best, by enclosing them in between the two strong XLR sockets. This way you can put the camera on the ground without having to be afraid you'll breack off the other plugs.
-overall keeps the Epic narrow this way
-looks sexy:)

Cheers
Brian
