  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Another update...

The intent of the upgrade options was to make "obsolescence obsolete". That meant trading a RED ONE in for an EPIC S35 (X). I wasn't our intention for a RED ONE owner to hold and use (and make money) with his RED ONE indefinitely until we released a camera that interested him. We thought we were being more than fair. I think some are pushing our intent a bit too far.

My strong suggestion is that you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Choose either Stage 2 or Stage 3 if you own a RED ONE. And then shoot something...

Jim

Yes. We have a whole whack load Of SSD's being assembled right now.. and batteries are just waiting on firmware testing.. both should start shipping out again next week. ( Epic-M owners get priority on the Batteries of course )

We will have enough to satisfy a normal demand.. but the orders coming in seem to indicate people are " stocking up " like its the end of the world.. so im sure there will be a bit of a roller coaster ride in availability over the next while.

2012 is coming... haven't you heard... stock up Jarred like the rest of us :-)

Couldn't have said it better; as I said, you're being incredibly generous. If someone can't bear to part with their RED ONE, you have a great deal for them. If they just want the latest and greatest, and want to trade in their RED ONE to get it, you have a great deal for them too. And if they simply can't wait for EPIC-X, guess what.... you have an EPIC-M deal for those guys too!

That's more than anyone else I know does, and more than anyone has a right to expect. If you bend over backward any further you'll do yourself an injury.

THANK YOU!

Mike

M-X more than made up for the delays... at least in our case as we ended up making more of our investment back RED ONE 103 in 5 months after upgrading (one which I PAID FULL PRICE FOR BACK in 2009 to jump the line for an EPIC that isnt anywhere near what this one is... )

SO THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU for M-X and STAGE 2 -

I have no problem with this. I paid deposit for Stage 2 for one camera and fully intend to exercise the other camera as a Stage 3.

I wasn't the one who originally said that this (not sure of the exact wording) could be an option.

Yes, you are being MORE than fair. I have been a regular poster of that fairness. But if I had been counting on that option, I would just have liked to have known that it was not an option.

But that is a hypothetical since as I have said, I intend to take full advantage of the RED Digital Cinema generous offer in re: R-1 eligible owners.

upgrading to MX and getting stage 2 is the deal of the century.
stage 3 is kick ass too (try to bring back your 3 year old car and get a FULL discount)

so the obsolence part is fullfilled 100%
nobody on the face of earth can expect more from RED.

... or Stage 3.5? :001_smile:

After shooting with my non-MX Red One this past weekend, I'm still amazed at the quality and amazing new updates like RedGamma/Color2. The Epic Stages, even the "lowest" stage 3.5 are more than fair. Red is letting that 17.5k investment ride into the future....

Is it still possible to get into Stage 2? Read a specific way, Jim's post seems to imply such, but I'm not sure now.

Has anything be mentioned about taking money for Stage 3?

And what the heck is Stage 3.5?

Thanks all. . .

Stephen

The Stage 2 & 3 deals have to be two of the best in the history of cinema technology. I think many here recognize and appreciate it greatly.

I don't take it for granted and I don't expect it again.

It would be great to be able to sort out our stage 2 and stage 3 options with RED Europe. The worst part of being a RED owner is having to deal with FED EX.

All will be clear on or before NAB.

Sorry for asking again, maybe I was not clear enough. I ordered Stage 2 (#598) and would like to buy 256 GB SSD media before I‘ll get my EPIC-X hopefully in May/June, it‘s the best deal for the money and fits best to my needs.
But 256 GB SSD is back ordered and the others availability is limited. I only want to make sure to have SSD media as soon as my EPIC-X arrives. Is it better to buy/order now the 64 GB or 128 GB versions to make that happen or is it guaranteed that Stage 2 EPIC‘s will ship at least with one SSD media if we pay extra money for media on top of the EPIC-X package?
EPIC-X without Redvolts is not a problem at all, we‘ve the Red bricks, but without media....

Don't worry... when your Stage 2 ships, SSDs will come with it.
