RED ONE, The True Workaholic..

My hours

My hours

My RED one, which is about 1 year old has 282 hours on in, and I just received the MX email today.
Is 282 a lot or very little for 1 year?
Will upgrading to MX zero it? hope not

same boat here,

I've made about a hundred set in two years(#3743) : 2 features, 2 tv, lots of videoclip, commercials, and shorts, and my counter is soo low : 363h I would have thought I was more 1000-1500ish.

Remember my dvx and hvx which have made a complete cycle and got back to a few hours each.

The people from RED seems to be dodging our questions Bérenger, so we may never know.

Yeah but most of those hours aren't recording. You can look through the optical viewfinder on a film camera and not put any time/wear and tear on the system.

I would be curious how many hours of recording the average camera has seen. It would be pretty amazing to see how much on media is saved over the life of the average REDOne.

Whenever my cellphones fall into water I put them in a bag of rice for 24 hours and it dries it out nicely. Wonder if that would work with a Red body?

I'm told that once some particular electrical components in a camera get wet then there is a real danger of that board failing.
If I recall, capacitors, even when dried out will slowly change their capacitance value and thus throw the board out of tune in very unusual and almost impossible to fathom ways.

Hey guys,

Bringing back to life a long dead thread now.

But I've just taken ownership of a R1 MX (First owned Red camera)

Its got 2K hours on the clock. Does anyone know if its close to an end or if I should be concerned with the milage at all?

Thanks guys,
Joe

I would say 2000 hrs is more on the higher end. A low hours R1 these days is normally considered 400-600 hrs. But these things are literally built like a tank. In my experience with the R1 I would expect another 1000 hrs before being concerned. They're naturally finicky cameras that glitch regularly. That's not a sign of a problem necessarily. That's just how they are from day 1. Not a cause of concern. Other than the headache :)

Well I got my part of history this year, My R1 has 250 HRS. If my film projects take off I'm looking forward to turn over miles on the dash 99999 =)

1000 hours on RED EPIC DRAGON in 1 year... am I using it too much? Is this normal?

you can never use it too much. The more you use it, the better you get, and the quicker you're on your way to the next generation of cameras.
