  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The 007 Thread

O.k. first "amazing" and "white noise" were clever..we got it.
The fifth one is _________.

If people are not clever enough to click on view more posts by
Jannard..Mark..and Graeme and sorting through some posts..well..
then good luck to you on use of your Red to break new ground in this
industry. Nothing good in Life is ever going to just be handed out to you..
You have to commit some effort and persistance.

Right because the patience to sift through endless fanboy drivel has a huge bearing on a cinematographer's ability to light.

You got me all wrong Detlev. I whole heartedly agree with everything you said. The Ask David Mullen thread is by far my favorite thread on this forum, because of all the reasons you stated. I just think there are certain threads that could benefit from the diary type I described. So, I'm saying in addition to all the awesome threads where we get to discuss, learn, and socialize, we could benefit from the occasional thread of pure information. I think this OO7 thread is a great example. Like you said, "All of us in different ways". Peace.

I hope I haven't started the next, "I am error" thread.

Seriously. Even if you do the custom sifting it still leaves something go be desired. I'm curious to see how it goes.

I think mark should hand pick questions and reply in the 007 thread which would create a kind of FAQ.

In deed a great idea that it should have been implemented long ago, however if they
did many of my post would have never made it ha ha.

But I do support this idea and I support even better what Jarred is doing via marking
"RED TEAM" the threads were they have posted and allow to jump right to it.

Truth is that we all Love what RED is doing and this community, so we naturally get exited
and post away ;) Nothing wrong with that, for this I favor Jarred's new filter system
rather then Deleting away, or in peed users form Posting, as it could be bad for their
Hearth if they can't release the excitement via posting he he.

I agree Ketch ... I can honestly say that I never tried to pad my post count and I don't think many people here have (and if I ever did it would be quite an embarrassment anyway considering the count of some of the users like you!)

Like you, I would never want to totally suppress the enthusiasm of others. Also I think there has been value when Jim announces something, to get lots of short positive responses from people here ... that's a big part of why the forum exists, so that Red can have real, instant feedback from its valuable customers. If the feedback is overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic, they know they are doing something that makes their customers happy. It's a good thing.

However, the new thing that Jarred implemented was awesome -- as I have often found myself trying to wade through long threads looking for the Red team responses and wondering where the "end" was.

And like many here, I will still continue to search for Jim and Jarred's posts on a daily basis -- just because I can't risk missing any big news, lol ...

So chime away and create the "noise" here and leave the info over in 007!

Floodgates are open man. Ask and ye shall receive.

Love the idea of hand picking questions and replying in the 007 thread.

:-) ... thanks Clint - and i hope i have gotten some things right nevertheless it may not have seemed so ... !

i was just adding to the thought of having more "closed threads".

... all toghether, in the various threads and in response to everyones posts, i was thinking about the problem at hand as a whole and cooking up a possible architecture for a solution in the back of my brain, that would let "us" ... as in all the readers and contributors of a thread .... create a "diary version" with the push of a button - a diary with an individual filter that is.

For example - a couple of switches, turning on/off (toggle):
[REDTEAM] [MODERATERS] [ORIGINAL POSTER] [All messages over x characters][friends] ... [...add keyword here...]

... and display the resulting thread filtered that way, either only one of the above or any combination thereof.

This way, it should include your wishes as well as all others ...

else{"I would have gotten it really wrong"}

;-)

sure. peace & love :-)

For some reason, I feel like a complete dork for starting this thread.

There there David, don't feel bad. It really is a good idea.
It has already generated some AMAZING humor!

DUDES. WHAZZUP? CHROMA NOISE?

As much as I may enjoy the thought of having selfmoderating threads... that is sort of the concept of a personal website/blog, isn't it?

Cheers!

I have nothing further to contribute to this thread. I just thought I would share that.
