TERADEK Cube/Bundle - Group Buy!

Light Iron system

Light Iron system

I know Cioni has been showing up to 25 ipads on his config that I believe uses the cube. Haven't tested it but I don't think you'll have an issue.

Jason
Jason,
Cioni was showing streaming via extremely powerful (video) server system-it has absolutely NOTHING to do with teradek (while teradek is an incredible achievement on its own)
Are you sure you are familiar with this product?:001_tongue:

Actually you are both wrong :-) Cioni WAS using Teradek Cubes .. but only to proxy record files from the Reds to his outpost server s/w (which runs on as little as a 13" Macbook Pro, or on a tower if you want more horses). He then serves up the proxy files to 23 iPads. So each Cube has only one connection, but the Laptop many. I fact just driving back now from Red Studios where we helped Michael show it off to whole bunch of people. Worked great. LA traffic, not so much.

You can do something similar just ito viewing with Air Video server - but loose all the fancy user management, tagging and export capabilities.

Cube by itself will do a few at best iPads at best, but with an intermediary server (as little as a mac mini) it will do a few dozen. In either case, playback is snappy, but live is delayed by 10 secs or so.

Yes Jacek I'm quite familiar with it :), I wasn't fully sure how he was serving it up but Nicol cleared that up.
Overall it's a pretty simple setup with or without Cioni's app.

Let me put it this way:
Streaming to 23 iPads had NOTHING to do with Teradek:beatdeadhorse5:
So I wasn't wrong per se...
Nicol, what's the minimum system requirements for steaming to laptop ?
At what data rate so the IQ is decent and streaming is stable and reliable?
Is there any off shelf s/w to capture the stream or only Teradek s/w will work?
I think these are pretty standard questions....

ok, so as we come towards the end of the sale there's a small issue:

Teradek is showing 38 items ordered under the diamondgrpbuy order code.
I am showing 49 items based on what people have PM'd me saying they ordered as reflected in my first post listing(s).

I need everyone to make sure that they used the group buy code when they placed the order or Teradek can't track it as being part of the group buy.
If you didn't use the code please email: info@teradek.com immediately with your order # and let them know your order was supposed to be under the group buy.

Thanks for your help, just trying to maintain a proper count and get everyone the max discount possible.

Actually, it did - he was streaming files generated from the Teradek Cube. He couldn't stream R3D files to 23 iPads, or for that matter 23 of any files non H.264. He could have generated those H.264s using Boxx+Matrox+Mac Pro+Qtake (I believe about $30k per camera), but we know he didn't. So it does have something to do with Teradek. But that's semantics.

Any current x86 laptop (not Atom !) from any reputable brand will do fine. The cheapest mac sails thru it - I'm sure HP, Acer, etc too. But a $300 e-machine or any netbook won't.

There is no Teradek client side s/w - some magic in our box, but everything on the PC/Mac is std based.

Jason - I just placed the order. Noted that their system would not allow me to add the 18" RED lemo cable to my cart - hopefully they can fix that later on - but the 120 encoder is locked in with an order number.

Hope everyone follows up on verifying that they entered the code correctly. I placed my order based on the total numbers Jason listed...
need to hit that magic number!

The demo that Nicol and Michael Cioni gave at RED Studio showed Teradek hardware working with Cioni's Live Play software as the front end for streaming to iPads, laptop, handheld battery powered monitors.

Both Teradeck and Live Play were indeed impressive.

Thanks Nicol for the info- it looks like a totally reasonable setup.
H264 is a standard and can be generated many ways (kona, kipro, cinedeck, intensity/software). I agree that at this level integration is important and if they play nice together that's a big plus... wireless- another big plus, price-another big plus. I just can't wrap my head around the decoder- why would one NOT want to record clips and deal with the delay...

So this list up top is what I have a cross checked against what people PM'd me and what Teradek has sent me from their orders placed.
There is still a discrepancy that we'll be ironing out tmw (tuesday) to make sure we can make sure everyone is accounted for.
Again, if you've ordered please check to make sure you used the diamondgrpbuy code for tracking purposes and if you didn't then see my previous post.

thanks again,
Jason

Ordered adn got reply confirmation, however I just sent a other email to insure that my purchase for the 2
Encoders and Cables was placed under this group buy "diamondgrpbuy"

If everything goes right you get an email form Teradeck with a receipt and order no. which says:

"Coupon discount -0.01 (diamondgrpbuy)"

Had to cancel my order because I wanted the HDMI unit. I read the HDMI only 2 days ago...

Ya for AirSyncHD :-/
