I haven't mx'd my Red yet; is there a deadline for that or can I wait another half year?

Another fascinating milestone is the 40% price increase, set against a time where in other digital imaging markets, manufacturers are also adding features but lowering prices.

Who will buy RED one for 25 000 if I we will bw able buy Epic for the same price 27 000?
That's a ridiculous statement. What 40% price increase? Surely you're not comparing the RED One to the RED MX? Or are you comparing the RED One to the Epic? Either way, it's nonsense to say there was a price increase. The cameras are not the same, so why would you make that comparison?
Who knows how long EPIC will take to come out?
The sad part is that getting into the RED train just got way more expensive.
And who knows how long Scarlet is gonna take to come out.
A follow up question for Brent, et al. If I send my camera in for MXing, what's the turnaround time looking like now that things are caught up?

Red One with MX is a very different and much more capable camera now than when it was originally introduced.
The M sensor is 3 years old, the first 1500 (approx) cameras came with a $2500 accessory discount making a 66% price increase since day 1
I love the "unique" perspective going on here. [snip] It's all professional, and the costs reflect that.
These new products are nice, but the pricing is a huge, unexpected, and painful hit.
Like many, I had to make a budget for my Epic-X very early on, I never expected current record media to dissappear and be replaced with new far more expensive media (I was a RED-Drive person).
So how many of those first cameras did you wind up buying, Stephen?
Regardless, you are still comparing better technology's prices with previous generations. ARRI does this too, right?
RED should make a deal with Apple to have one RED-MX with basic accessories for sale (cash and carry) at the top 100 stores worldwide. I bet Apple would do it at zero or tiny margin and RED would benefit tremendously. Like Steve Jobs said, 1 Million people per day visit Apple stores worldwide so it's like 20 MacWorld Trade Shows every day. This would be like a bunch of NAB's.

You're always a step ahead of me Ketch.

Wait, aren't you the guy who was upset about the base cost of SSD storage?
Apparently you didn't mind expressing your perspective on the high cost of getting into SSD storage, but at at the same time, you seem to think that someone who has been budgeting for a RED One camera body this summer @ $17,500 should just suck it up -- even though the price went up 43% on the camera body overnight, without warning. And they should do so because "it's all professional, and the costs reflect that"?
Methinks you're not being entirely consistent or fair here.
