  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE MX - Now Shipping on Demand.

Epic just around the corner it could be but if not ten R1mx is still gonna rule.

Also it could be a smoke curtain trick...

25000$ for the best digital motion picture camera available in the world (all things concidered), after all that´s pretty good!

BTW since the CF Module is purchased separately any way, this means that as son as the SSD Module is available one can just order his new R1 MX with it, and not have to spend the additional $500 for the CF Module, correct?

You will be able to choose between the two module offerings at time of purchase once SSD one is available, yup!

I think a thank you is in order. I appreciate the pricing of the MX RED one and I am sure many other owners are pleased that RED has taken steps to maintain the value of the RED Camera.

ALl I can say is thank you!

Yes David, true, but I also believe that the additional very small price difference form older Red plus MX upgrade vs, new Red with MX, is also do to the fact of the added Manufacturing cost been done now in the USA.

I think that made in USA is a fine thing.

Nothing wrong with that. I believe that people understand that paying a bit more means buying with confidence.

After all, it's an American company. The price point is fair and honours original owners. Even if that was not the intent, it menas R1-MX will hold it's value.

Well, I don't have as much blind faith in "Made in America" as I did when I was a kid 40 years ago. And generally think I get more value for dollar spent with quality products being manufactured offshore. Hate to say that, but it seems true. That said, I'm sure Red has lined up a red-hot manufacturing partner for Epic that kills at quality work and QC, so its all good.

So, purely to get some geography, what will be the price of an Epic s35 body only when we reach that point (in the new year I'm guessing). Just interested to know where the R1 M-X sits price-wise.

Oh, and a further vote of thanks for upping the price to maintain the value of current cameras.

28.000$ if I remember correctly.

Wow! That's not much of a premium for everything that Epic offers in such a small package. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

Agreed, but keep in mnd that Epic was slated for release spring 2009 - so we have no idea when we will actually see it available, could be another year. Oh I hope not ;-)

Hopefully this doesn't mean that EPIC (and specially Scarlet) are gonna be late to the party.

"Thanks for making this less affordable!"

:out:

I see your point Niko but you have to see mine. Those of us who have upgraded our Red Ones to M-X have paid over $23,000 for our cameras. It's very important to all of us that the bottom doesn't fall out of our investments. What I meant was I'm pleased they didn't just leave the price at $17,500 and give new adopters our $23,000 camera at a discount. It's a two-sided coin.

I still think it's close. They're shooting features on it right now - it can't have that many bugs left to iron out.

It would have especially been a spit in the face of those who had just bought a Mysterium Red One ... and those, like myself, who have a stage 3.5 Red being upgraded to M-X. :hurray:

Thank you Red for pricing the (out of the box) M-X Red One accordingly.

What is Stage 3.5? I almost bought a MX for quite a bit more then $25k this week.
