The AS350 was quite close!

Anybody else have some cool 11-16mm shots to share ?

I would love to share a shot we did directly above an operating table
so you could see all the doctors and nurses working on the patient, a basketball, spot for comcast sportsnet, but I don have the rights to show,
but my fav lens was the hero of the day. I will try to find others

Is that with a polo or just ND??? And how robust is that lens? I have been thinking of getting one but just having a hard time pulling the trigger as I want something that will take rough locations as that seems to be the only place I end up working.

I see crazy CA in still shots from my canon mount tokina 11-16, especially in high contrast situations.

Does the duclos mod clear this up some how?

It's with a 77mm screw in ND.9, anything else gets blown off due to rotor wash. The tokina lens is quite robust, it's internals are metal, even better with the Duclos mods where you get a new 80mm front and of course the PL mount.

Sounds like you have a bad sample or it's out of calibration.

Hey Alex,
Can you share some of the moving vision? The still looks amazing.
I've got the Tokina in Canon mount but like J Davis I'm getting varying
degrees of success. Some of my images are soft on one side and in the next shot pin-sharp???

Hey Joe,

first and next to last shot w/ 11mm-16mm Duclos (just forget the black vignette)

here are another sample, wide starts at 01:57sec:

and here:

reg. CA I always try to close the iris as much as possible. To find the sweet spot means testing beforehand (distance, available light, etc.) High contrast and open lens is always problematic but this applies to most of the lenses.

Really like the look and feel you've achieved with these aerials Alex - incredible for hand-held. Thanks for the advise on the Tokina..........will do more testing

Would really like some opinions from you guys on this selection of examples taken with the Tokina 11-16.
I'm finding the lens to more often than not, be soft on the left-hand side in comparison to the right?

Seems to me you have a bad egg. I did some very basic shooting to determine sharpness in real world conditions (I can't stay in my lens cave all day). It was actually a comparison of the 11-16mm and the Nikon 14-24mm. Both at 14mm.
The results are here: MatthewDuclos
This is a large version of just the 11-16mm, sharp in the corners: 11-16mm

I do have Tokina 11-16mm and it's a great lens.

Right now arrived another kind in town: Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5-6 that is equivalent to 12-24mm on FF35mm.

Of course that I've got it too now for 7D (tomorrow for Epic & Scarlet) and it's also sharp, gorgeous and a bit wider lens than Tokina.

BTW, no filters.

Shot on 7D with Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6.

Sweet...
