I'm surprised a high end camera like a RED is so very feature crippled :-/
Seems like there is a market niche need for a small adapter with SDI I/O which passes in a video signal and outputs a TC signal only (with trigger).
Ah well, I suppose then you should use a MixPe series recorder or a Tascam DR701D so that you can use the HDMI record trigger instead. (please don't tell me RED has crippled that too!)
