100% crop from the 4K Zone Plate. Canon 7D.

This is why we don't "line-skip".

Regardless, the 5D and 7D still often both find themselves next to the RED and even Arri on television and cinema. With names like Shane Hulbert and TV shows including "24" embracing Canon DSLR for production as B and even A cameras shows what they can do in the right hands and how charts like these tell only one obscure side of the story.

My two cents anyway :)

Hey we know they are crap but the 7D is all we have right now. I think it would be more fair for you to beat it down after your super cam is on sale.

Not that it really matters since this is all about electronic cinema, but how do the 5D and 7D perform with the zone plate test when shooting in still mode? Some of us do a lot of time-lapse with DSLR's and when shooting still-frame intervals our work in effect becomes cinema. My concern has always been how well it will cut together with the Red.

Yes it looks like crap when pointed at a zone plate. But this piece of crap can be purchased anywhere today and it performs relatively well for what it costs.

And we all know one of the only reasons people are using 7D's is because Scarlet isn't available. Finish the cameras and start getting them out the door and people will be talking about the 7D much less. Until then there's not a lot more options for those on a budget.

well said isaac. I agree.

You know what would be uber-cool? If you posted some 2/3 footage of you guys pointing a 7D at a 4K zone plate. Izzy is now dated ... footage please!

Honestly, this seems to be in poor taste given the removal of the "Other Cameras" subsection.

Some fresh screens and footage from the un-released cameras would make up for it though ;)

I'm quite sure the 7D has many uses... this is informational. BTW.. the RED ONE with M-X sensor is available. Rent an M-X. Buy a 7D. Rent an F35. EPIC soon. You have lots of choices. We are just making sure people have info, especially if they have plans for their footage in the future.
