Hey,
I thought sharing this with you guys. I've been using this gear a few times on Zeiss-Milvus and Canon L glass since our local rental service has these for quite a while on all their lenses.
I've always been wondering who produced these very handy, strong and easy-to-use lens-gear-rings. I just found out Zeiss is about to release them. Those are way better than normal lens-gear-systems on the market and quite interesting for all of us shooting on small lenses.

Zeiss is killing it. Love my Otus set. Best lenses I have ever used - sharper and way less CA than Summicron-C's while being a full stop faster. The Otus 28mm is amazing. Like zero distortion and CA in the most challenging shoots. Used it on a high-end Architectural Photography project recently on a Nikon D810 . . . which is an 8K camera. Stunning. These gears allow seamless use of the Otus on cine applications. Very easy to justify the Otus cost when you compare them to other 8K cine lenses.
HeheGumGum? Oh my!
Am I the only one that wonders why Zeiss didn't just incorporate the gear into the lens design in the first place?
Cause the cine market is a real small percentage of users of this category of lenses. The Otus looks real slick on a DSLR. Would not want the gears on it when shooting stills.
You make them almost flush like on the Ultra Primes, with enough flat area for just fingers next to the gears, then you increase your market without add-ons. But then what do I know about selling lenses. I'm just the end user.
What would be the advantage to this vs having the Duclos rings added? The Duclos ones are only like $85 I believe.
