Has anyone ever compared the 12mm Arri standard T2.1 to the Tokina 11-16? Really interested in the amount of distortion and sharpness. I've shot on the 12mm T2.1 and it was a pretty good, so wonder more about the Tokina.

I can't get any technical info on the 12mm T2.1..

The Zeiss from what I read is a converted 16mm Zeiss standard prime with an added front element by ARRI. it's a very old design but still a beautiful lens.

Hey Oron, hope you're well!

I suggest you try the gorgeous 10mm Standard Speed which was an original design like the UP 8R (its successor).

Tokina will surely be much more modern looking vs the 12mm imho...

The old Zeiss 12mm Standard Speed is a lens to avoid if you can use the 14mm Standard Speed instead which is a great lens.

The Loawa 12mm "zero-distortion" lens is very nice. I have it in PL mount from GL Optics. I have pre-ordered a Tokina 11-20 zoom.

Hi Tommaso, All good here, thanks:) Hope you are good as well!

I think I'll go Tokina then, I do like the organic feel of the Zeiss, but I need modern look, and it has to be 12mm, 14mm will not work for this.

I'm renting lenses for this project, and no rental house has the Loawa 12mm. it's rare that I use a 12mm, so don't think it's a good deal for me to invest in one at this point.

What would be the optimal lens specification for the shooting conditions?

Hi Misha, I shooting a couple of VFX shots in a very small studio that has an opening in one of the walls where I can place the camera, hence why I need a very specific focal length, as I can't move the camera, it will be placed in that small opening.

Ideally I would of used something like the ARRI Ultra Wide Zoom UWZ 9.5-18 or Master prime 12mm, it's a VFX shot, so as much less distortion and as much sharpness that I can get the better.

I'm very limited for choice from the rental house, it's either the 12mm Zeiss or the Tokina 11-16. I've tried to check other rental houses but they are also limited for choice.

When you are open for photo lenses the choices you have increases dramatically and increases even more when you attach a speed-mount to your Scarlet-W (in my opinion the best upgrade for your camera).

I'm open to photo lenses, that's why I'm using the Tokina at the end. Would love to try out the speed mount + 15mm lens, but for 3500Euros, I think I have better things to spend my money on :) .
