Hey everyone- just wanted to let you all know that I've posted a couple of blog posts that cover running Windows 7 and Windows 8 on the HP Z820 RED Edition:
Updates will be posted on twitter: @GavinGear

Video Editing Supercomputer: Z820 RED Edition

Extreme 4K Multi-Mon Video Editing on Windows 8

Everything is running solid on Windows 8 including the RED ROCKET, GTX 660 Ti video card, REDCINEX PRO, and Premiere Pro CS6.

Check it out: 55" Toshiba 4K Ultra-HD TV and two 27" WQHD displays hooked up to the Z820 RED Edition running Windows 8:

Too bad you have to give back that Toshiba 55". It's not going to be as expensive as everyone keeps claiming. It's going to hit the USA early next summer, along with a bunch of competition. One of my distributors has it in their internal catalog already, but no official dates or prices just yet. Apparently the street price on that Toshiba in Japan is the equivalent of just under $9200 USD and should be less by the time it makes its way here. Should get more details next month at CES aobut dates, prices, etc.. and if the USA model will differ.

Looks like a fun setup with those monitors. I will humbly continue with my dual 30" Dell displays and 50" Panny 1080p plasma... Love my z820 though and mine is not the RED edition. Wouldn't mind having one of those internal REDMAG readers, if only I could buy one separately.... :)

Hey Jeff. Is this the 4k Toshiba that you were hinting at?

Nope. The one I was hinting at in the other thread is not from Toshiba. The maker of the one I hinted about already has panels out there, they demoed them at NAB last year, had some of Tom Lowe's footage running on them... Now that should really narrow it down for you. ;)

Nice setup

Awesome. Good to have you here Gavin, always look forward to Extreme Windows blog posts on my RSS reader.

Thanks everyone! Any other Z820 RED Edition users reading this thread?

Well to me dis is not even a hands on, wow dude u are with such power and u can't give us numbers. Common I work in a post huse with almost same setup just dat ours was custom built with the asus z9pe d8 ws, maximus setup quadro 6000 and tesla c2075, red rocket, 64gig ram, decklink 4k extreme nd the lsi 986cv with a 16 bay raid machine storage system, we are gettin ovew 1900MB/sec I can confidently say the tesla slightly edges the gtx 680 4gb in premier cs6, in davinci reslove 9 the combination of the quadro and tesla blows away a 690. This machine is 6k ready. Makes 5k 5:1 footage looks like prores. Buh I can't review it cos am an intern. Buh dis tin absolutlydestroys a macpro. By the way the lsi controller is pcie 3.0 dats why we could get such speed. I just wished u could show the raw power of dat machine. 5 pcie devices on one. Motherboard crazy times we are in.
