  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm running into this situation more and more. Client wants me to download youtube video to insert into a video we're editing. I'm aware that downloading Youtube videos is against Youtube's policy and admittedly this isn't an ideal way to get video, but most of the time these are videos that the client has permission to use, this just happens to be the format available. So, with that out of the way, what have you been using to do this safely, without malware infected software or websites. Here are my restrictions.

Mac only
Safari or Firefox (if web based tool)

The website on top of your search is normally safe to you. just use an adblocker or something so you don't need to download any software
 
Brilliant Adam, thank you. Re: these instructions, on VLC 3.0.2 the "location" info is under Window>Media Information>General Tab.
