"Booked the badge" as in for the Red event?

I can not find the link or thread, so if there is one could someone let me in on the secret :-)

Pretty sure that he meant booked a badge for NAB. Michael said they are wiring on a page with all of the info for the RED event that will be up sometime this month.

I've been out of the RED loop for a while dealing with a lot of personal stuff. I hemmed and hawed before January 1 about whether to go ahead and order a Scarlett package before the price increase but couldn't justify it to myself with no project on the horizon.

Now there is one, faint but visible, and I'm wondering if those who've attended NAB RED events before can comment on whether there are typically price breaks/incentives in short windows offered at these events. I'm aware that this is a common practice with other vendors (though I've never been to NAB so am going by what I've read.) If there's a good chance of RED discounting some things or offering other incentives (special pricing on large packages, etc.), then 2012 will mark my first NAB trip, and I'll make reservations today.

Thanks for any info offered.

Not really Elizabeth. 4 years ago you could have got in line for the first red camera which led to discounts for those people since, but generally no. Its a time to meet the people who make red tick and see whats coming down the pipe.

Is there a hotel yet?

This is a PERFECT example of a 4K portrait!
Simple. Powerful. Creative. Short. Non-sync. Shows off the medium. Truly an art piece.
This is a wonderful example of what could be an amazing 4K portrait (other than the fact it's on Vimeo in HD;-)

Pretty cool video.

Is there any more information on the 4k portrait competition?

Really? 'Cause... when I think "portrait" I think Avedon, Emmet Gowin, Lee Friedlander, Nan Goldin... not X Games promo piece. I feel like a portrait should be evocative, emotionally charged and communicative of some particular aspect of the human spirit. I mean... that video is cool and parts of it are really beautiful, but beautiful imagery alone is not content... imagery should serve to punctuate a meaningful message. Without a message, even the most clever idea becomes stale all too rapidly, as the video above does. If the criteria for the competition is Cool Fluff, then I guess I need to reconsider entering.

What will the RED Rocket team do with the new HEVC H.265 Codecs now that a Committee Draft is out ?

Hey Gang,

See you there! It's my birthday, so I'll be ready to party!

THanks Red Team!

M

Okay, way different then what I tough you guys were after, even so surely entertaining, and beautifully filmed, I see nothing of with I had in mind, as far as visually embracing 4K, with extremely Sharp, and detailed visible to wow, such Eyes, shiny cars, food, liquid and so on, I guess I'm back at square one??

One thing is that this shows lots of slow Mo, so means that we can trow some 96fps, can we not?... ;)
