Xeen Cine Lens Set - Group Buy

Hey guys thanks for the feed back. The Xeen rep I am talking with if out of the office all week (and I've been in the high desert of california with no signal) but next week I am going to be talking with him again and get a more formalized deal going with pricing and a timeline.

Good to hear, Tom.
I'm interested also depending on price.

Been lurking on these forums for over a year and this is my first post...

Interested! Also depending on price and choice of metric or imperial

I'm also interested.

They just had a promo for $1500 off the set of three ($6000 total instead of $7500). I hope this group buy would beat that price... I still want to see more about these lenses, though, and play around with them. Might try to see if a local shop has them or rent a set from LensRentals. I heard that they use the same optics as the Rokinon DS lenses, they just have new coatings for them. Haven't really been blown away by the other Rokinon cine lenses (soft and bloomed highlights when wide open), but they worked pretty great for how damn cheap they are!

Has anyone had a chance to check these out?

The real problem for everyone (that is the manufacturers) is that Sony just lowered the price on Their Cine Alta lenses. The six lens set now costs around $9k.

I am also interested in the Xeens but the price has got to be right.... and they need to give us some more info on when the set will be completed.

Price and "hands-on time" dependent... Also, I'd like to know what they're doing for the wide and long ends, as well...

So, When I contact my guy I will verify three things - 1) My types and what the group buy would include (pushing for any of the mounts depending on what you guys need) 2) Markings (again pushing for that to be a choice available at order time) 3) Turn around time.

I feel like between here and a couple face book posts I can tell him we'd be looking in the +30 buyer range (if not more) so hopefully I can get a solid break down on pricing. As for the future lenses from my phone conversation with him last week, he didn't say specifically but round about confirmed that a 35mm is in the works at some point in early to mid 2016, but on the long and wide side I didn't get any vibe - I know Rokinon makes an 18mm and they are using the glass from Rokinon so that would seem logical.

More to come next week - Thanks for the response.

Sony dropped the price even more? I'm assuming you're talking about these: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/906631-REG/sony_scl_pk6_f_cinealta_4k_six_lens.html
(Currently $12.9k, "on sale" from the normal $20.9k price)

If so, 9k is a hell of a price. Where did you see that?

Back on topic of Xeens, though, I saw they had this image out there:

I'd have to assume the widest is maybe their 16mm T2.2 rehoused... then the 35mm in the middle, and maybe their newer 100mm T3.1 on the right? It would certainly be a versatile set of lenses. It's a bummer the Sony set on the widest is only 20mm, but it's nice that there is a 135 in the Sony set and that all lenses are T2.

The Sonys are also a little wider in diameter (same 114mm diameter for the front, but the Sonys bulge out a bit after that, to 118mm). Additionally, the Sonys weigh quite a bit more than the Xeens, the lightest Sony is 4.5lbs while the heaviest Xeen is barely more than 2.6lbs.

Any word from Rokinon yet?

Any news?

Instead of waiting to get the news on the group buy, check Duclos Lens since they have a great deal at the moment. If you buy three lens set from Duclos before Dec 31st, they will ship Xeen 35mm T1.5 lens for free as soon as they begin shipping from the factory.

i also met Rich, Marketing Manager, and Morris, Vice President for Sales and marketing, from Elite Brands (US distributer for Samyang brands including Rokinon and Xeen), and found out they are not really interested to setting up a group buy. Time will change this but at the moment Duclos deal is really hard to beat if you are looking to get the Xeen lens set.
