Have about 1500 to spend on a 15mm 4x5.65 mattebox 2 stage at least. looking for RED, O connor obox, or Arri MMB 1 or something similar that will work well with contax zeiss primes. Swing away preferred but not crucial. would also be great if it came with top/side flags.

Thanks :)

Really hoping for a RED mattebox, anyone out there have one? also can anyone attest to RED vs. Oconnor o box in terms of practicality and quality?

I have a Redrock mattebox followfocus and hard case for sale if you are interested, I can send pics?

I would take pics. Though Redrock would be my last option i think. unless maybe it comes with few filters.

check out the Arri MMB-1 its in your price range and top quality.

Dont forget about Bright Tangerine MB's. I think they have one in your price range.

The viv is in your price range. Great matte box that won't disappoint.

If bright tangerine is in my price range I would love one. Viv with flags doable for 1500?

I emailed curt a little bit ago.

Ill look into it. Really interested in bright tangerine if in my price range.

Take a serious look at the prime circle MATBOX. It's a nice piece of kit and I think it would be affordable for you. It's clip on or rods an works with lenses that breathe.

The prime circle looks very cool as well. I wonder the price point and how it compares to bright tangerine.

I looked at the viv.

The reason I did not go with the bright tangerine was very simple but very good one. The rods do not pass underneath, they don't clear under the bottom part of the mattebox so you can not use one size of rods for several different lenses.

i did not want to have to change rods with every lens change. Sometime we want to change out lenses a lot and having the clearance under the mattebox is very handy.

Hello Domenic,

I am currently selling my 2-Stage RED PRO Matte Box because I recently purchased a 3-Stage Chrosziel with spinning trays and I am no longer using my RED PRO 2-Stage.

The RED PRO 2-Stage Matte Box does take 4x5.65 filters...but the trays do not spin. Also...please be aware that the RED PRO is a snap-on Matte Box, NOT a pole mount. However, If you're planning on using it with an EPIC or a Scarlet, and your camera has a 15mm Universal Mount rigged on it...I know that RED sells a rod support adapter for the RED PRO Mattte Box for $150.00, which bolts directly onto the RED 15mm Universal Mount. That would allow you to use it as a pole mount rig with your EPIC or your Scarlet...but the Matte Box would NOT swing away.

Here's the thing...as far as I can tell, if you want to use the RED PRO Matte Box on any other camera, you would have to use it as a snap-on, which would require the proper adapter ring, depending on the mm of the front of the lenses you are using.

I used this Matte Box as a snap-on with my Arri 16mm Ultra Prime and my Zeiss CP2's, so...along with the Matte Box, I am including 1 - 114mm adapter ring & 1 -110mm adapter ring. RED also sells a 95mm adapter ring and a 104mm adapter ring for it.

I originally purchased this RED PRO Matte Box directly from RED in June. It is in great condition! 5 photo's are attached for your inspection.

I don't have the top flag or the cage & side flags kit for it, but you can order them directly from RED if you need them.

So, anyway...RED sells this Matte Box new for $1200. I'm asking $ 750.00 for it.

If you're interested in purchasing it from me, please email me directly @ griecocam@gmail.com

If you're not interested...best of luck with nailing one down...and best regards!
