  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

WTB leica 80mm summilux-r 1.4

When did they release the 80mm?

How many are in the set now?

It's my little set I have 19,24,35,50,35-70zoom and a 100 just wanted a 80 to make me happy :))) but these are not cheap cost over £10,000 so far but can see the finish line

I'd like to see some of your footage shot with these. Using an Epic?

No problem Will they are going out at the end of jan will upload the video to my website roulettefilms.com if I get a chance to use them myself befor I will upload here for everyone to see

And yes on epic at 5k I will put these to the test to trust me

Excellent, looking forward to it.

I love my R set. I have the 19, 24, 28, 50, 100, and the 80-200.
I still want the 35/1.4.

Dont overlook the 80-200. It's cheap and it's the badest zoom I've ever used.

I have a mini set 35/50/80 Summilux 1.4s plus the cheap 28-70 Zoom. I actually really like that zoom. I got all the primes from eBay. Paid heavily for new old stock glass and they were all immaculate. The only drag with the big Summiluxes is that the focus offers so much resistance that it binds my follow focus on the 35 and 80. Anyone else have these issues?

Gorgeous glass, tho....

Have them serviced. When the lenses sit for a long time the grease in the focus barrels gets old and sticky. If you get a decent lens tech to open them up and re grease them you will experience the buttery focus you are looking for. Also, depending on how you geared the lens, make certain that they aren't too tight. A clip on mattebox might be causing this this as well, if it is a bit to heavy for the lens.

Hi David can you recommend a good lens tech to do service work thanks

I'm in the uk got the ones I have already cine converted by TLS but they did not want to service them

At any focal length the 80-200 (specifically) looks as good as any Leica or Zeiss prime I've used. I owned the 35-70 for a while -- good lens - but I didnt love it the same.
Both lenses are slow at f4.
Don Goldberg serviced my 19mm a few years back. Did a great job.
