  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wraptor crashes after FCP/Compressor update?

thanks it fixed that error
tomorrow I will try to use wrapotored file in digital cinema.

I have next problem. I hope you can help me.

I prepered DCP package using Wraptor. No errors. As result I got one folder with 6 files:
VOLINDEX (4KB)
long name .mxf (huge file)
long name .pkl (4 KB only)
long name. cpl (4 KB only)
long name .mxf (huge file but smaller then first one)
ASSETMAP (4KB)

I could upload and play "Wraptor"-ed DCP package on doremi film server without any problem but I can't upload it to XDC SOLO-G3 server.
What can be a problem?
Does XDC require different DCP package?
Does Wraptor support their servers?

I saw DCP package of one trailer which was played on XDC server with no problems (DCP also includes 6 files and looks almost the same) the only difference I have noticed in structure of files that instead of
long name .pkl (4 KB only)
long name. cpl (4 KB only)

it includes
long name_pkl.xml (.xml not pkl also 4 KB only)
long name_cpl.xml (.xml not cpl also 4 KB only)

Could be a problem?
How to fix it?
I tried to change extensions manually but it didn't help.
Any suggestions?

I can't really help you with this one. I don't have access to any cinema hardware any more. I know we had someone test a Wraptor package on an XDC back when we first wrote it, but I don't know what model it was, since I wasn't involved in the actual test. I just saw the compatibility matrix that said it worked.

Does XDC require different DCP package?

It shouldn't; that's the whole point of a DCP. Create once; play everywhere. Compatibility across the industry still tends to be a bit shaky sometimes, though, as there isn't a certification process in place yet (last I knew).

The DCP specifications only stipulate specific file names for the ASSETMAP and VOLINDEX files (under SMPTE, they become ASSETMAP.xml and VOLINDEX.xml) The other files can be named anything, as long as they meet certain criteria--shorter than 128 characters, no "special" characters, that sort of thing. When reading a DCP, you use the ASSETMAP to find out what the file names of the other pieces are.
