  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Woven Carbon Weapon begins Shipping with Lakeshore Entertainment

Jon, if we did same internals in Mg, it would not be a slight bump. It would be pretty darn close to Woven.

Understandable, a bit of an enthusiastic moment, however different internals but same camera name, only differenced by it's materials in branding, is a pretty confusing scheme if you've not been reading the posts here...

Coool... Congrats to the Lakeshore guys. Being first is a special thing.

I keep checking my email or waiting for the phone to ring to let me know it's my turn. ;)

Please do!! At least that option when we upgrade!

I would definitely want to upgrade Weapon CF.However why should i buy that as a package? I dont want to pay for these;
MG PL 2.0 3500$
Base Expander 1750$
Top Handle 550$
Redvolt XL Module 1150$
Sidekick Woven 1500$

TOTAL: 8450$

on my upgrade path i need to pay 29.000$.There is a huge difference paying 20K instead of 29.000 $
Hope somebody listening me..

For current Dragon owners, Weapon MG feels a bit overpriced. It's basically the same camera with the cable-outputs moved to the side and a black-shade system removing some stress from the AC. However, if the MG also could have the same internals as the Carbon-models, at least feature upgrade to VV-sensor at the same price point as the CF models, although later, I see myself buying one...

Two really essential issues remain after a Weapon upgrade, and why invest in an interim solution (that can't go to VV) until these issues are solved?:
-Internal ND
-Global shutter

Just sharing my view.

I ordered 1 of each for upgrades to my Epics (my third Epic I'm keeping for now) MG will do everything that the CF will do until you start ramping up the FPS and go into slo-mo mode, that and it's not 8K ready. So if I'm doing a two camera shoot they will match and I'll use the CF when doing over cranked shots. I really only need 1 8K camera in the future, I'll rent another if I need it, and on a two camera shoot I usually only need one camera that does slo-mo well (not saying that the MG won't do slo-mo well, the CF is just a bit better) so it made sense not to spend the extra cash for 2 CF Weapons.

I am listening. And I am confused. The price for a new woven carbon fiber WEAPON is $49,500. The upgrade package is also $49,500. So, you are getting all of those accessories plus brain for the same price a new brain would be. You are getting those at no extra charge when upgrading.

And, FWIW, brain alone comes with SIDEKICK and MG PL 2.0. So, no matter what, you get those.

Hence, upgrading is an option. If you don't feel the benefits are worth it, I get it.

I think my point might be missed here, if we put in the same internals into an Mg as a carbon fiber, they would be close to the same price. So, I don't get the request to do that when ordering the woven would be essentially the same cost to you?

As Jarred has mentioned before, the Mg can go to 8K, but a lot of the boards will have to be replaced. Then you are right back to it being as expensive - or more so - to go MG 6K to MG 8K then carbon fiber 6K to carbon fiber 8K. It will definitely be more expensive than the people who got in on the 8K pre-order of $10,000.

:( sorry for the misunderstanding. Why do you guys so good to us?

Haha, no worries, man. I have no problem trying to make the water a little less muddy for you guys...

Congrats to Lakeshore Entertainment who picked up the the first of the shipping 6K Woven Carbon Weapons today from the studio.

Thanks to James Mcquaide and the entire Lakeshore team for having faith in RED since the beginning.... It seems like just yesterday when Lakeshore invited Jim and I down to New Mexico with our RED ONE prototypes to test for "Gamer" , which in turn ended up to be one of the first features to shoot on RED.

The Underworld series seems to always kick off when we have a new camera.... Underworld 3 was shot on RED ONE, Underworld 4 was shot on the Epic, and tomorrow Lakeshore's Weapons flies over to Prague to begin shooting Underworld 5.
