Congrats to Lakeshore Entertainment who picked up the the first of the shipping 6K Woven Carbon Weapons today from the studio.

Thanks to James Mcquaide and the entire Lakeshore team for having faith in RED since the beginning.... It seems like just yesterday when Lakeshore invited Jim and I down to New Mexico with our RED ONE prototypes to test for "Gamer" , which in turn ended up to be one of the first features to shoot on RED.

The Underworld series seems to always kick off when we have a new camera.... Underworld 3 was shot on RED ONE, Underworld 4 was shot on the Epic, and tomorrow Lakeshore's Weapons flies over to Prague to begin shooting Underworld 5.

WOW.

That's great! So from now on woven and forged Weapons will be made in parallell?

Fantastic news for many users.

Congratulations!

Super cool!

Btw, what about magnesium Weapons, are they on the horizon?

Woooooo

Looking forward for Underworld 5...and other features to be shot on Weapons.
Fantastic times...

amazing news! the future just got a little better!

I remember shooting additional scenes for Underworld 4 in 3D with Lakeshores Epics at Red Studios and also 3D underwater work with Kate Beckinsale up in the fantasy Tank in the North Valley.... Glad to see that director Anna Foerster is using Weapon on her feature directorial debut.

Hmm, not sure if this is the right place to post this, but...

...how about giving the magnesium Weapon the same internal hardware as the carbon-models, maybe with a very slight price jump...

...and at the same time introduce a camera replacing the Scarlet. Basically something Raven-like with S35 sensor and an interchangeable mount.

That would give three cameras in the DSMC 2.0 range:

Raven, a scarlet replacement and Weapon (Epic replacement in three different material types)...

Jon, if we did same internals in Mg, it would not be a slight bump. It would be pretty darn close to Woven.

Jarred had already reply to this question...

As I recall it is indeed possible as the BODY is the exact same of all Weapon cameras, despite of the materials used...

However to give the internal components as the CF models, meaning also 8k ready... Jarred also mentioned that it would cost... And I don't expect to be a "very slight price jump"...

Remember that Magnesium, is one of the hardest Metal composite to work with, and a dangerous one too...

But as one whom loves Magnesium more then CF, I know I would forge (not Forged) out the extra cash no problem for it... :)
