Hi there,

I am prepping to grade a short film I recently shot on the Red Weapon 6K. I've graded a lot of r3d footage before but now that I've shot in RedWideGamutRGB and Log3G10 I'd need to change all my clips to this. Of course for this I'd go into the Red Raw section in settings to change the project to these settings. But whenever I do that it literally changes all the clips ISO, White Balance and Tint to the one that's in the project settings. It doesn't matter if I tick the box or not, it always changes all the settings of each specific clip to this. I'm probably really missing something but would love to know how to just change the color gamut and color space.

Thanks,
Simon

When you set your Camera Raw section to RED you can set 'Decode Using' = Project

Just like you say, this overrides your clips and you can set up the color space and gamma curve for the whole project. This also overrides ISO and Color Temp.

But if you look all the way down in the bottom of this panel you see 'Use Camera Metadata'. Here you can check ISO, Exposure and Color Temp to again 'override' the 'override' =)

Meaning you're back to your original metadata for these three values, while keeping your 'project level' settings.

I get the feeling he's trying to make a global change and not fiddle with it on a per clip level.

If you set your general RED raw settings to 'camera metadata' in settings, you don't get the option to specify color space and gamma. I think he needs to set it up the way I describe it in my post above—unless he feels like setting each clip up individually, which is also possible.

Select all clips you want to change, tick the "Save with version", select "Clip", change the Color Space to RWG and the Gamma Curve to Log3G10 and finally click on "Use changes". Done.

Better way to do this. I do this all the time.

If you don't want to change the scene specific settings like ISO and Kelvin/Tint. Go into the Media page, sort all the media by Media type. That way all your R3D media are grouped. Select all your R3D Media, right click and go to Edit Camera Raw Settings.

You can change Gamma/Colorspace there and then select Use Changes. This way you keep all the scene settings and change the gamma setting. I also use this to turn on DEB at times or noise reduction/OLPF Comp.

Hey guys,

I've tried it with the change Red Raw settings in the media page and that seems to work the best for me. When I do it in the Red Raw settings in Project settings it still changes the ISO, WB and Tint even if I tick the boxes.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

Best way to do this is in the Project Setting under Camera Raw

Red Raw

Decode using - Project

Set to RWG/Log3G10

Flut to +1 (with dragon)

at the bottom of the raw there is a section that says use camera metadata, check all 3

Then save.

That should work like youre expecting

Just kidding. But he says it doesn't work for him. Anyway... he found a solution.

Just putting it in a concise list. Some people struggle.
