Hi Rob,
I think Laguun has a point here, workflow or workaround when it
comes to Red and Post.
He's a concerned guy because any time soon he will have clients coming
into his facility with Red data looking to film out. He may not be the
only concerned Post guy out there, in or outside the US.
Redcine needs to be released NOW so it can be intergrated into existing
established post systems, or hold off on camera delivery.
I can tell you, if any completion person gets the idea for a second that Red
workflow is problematic in post, Red is dead on arrival for larger feature
film projects. This would be a pity given all the hard work you and the guys
at Red have already put in.
Things like changing platforms mid post from FCP/Apple to Scratch/PC via
bootcamp/magic duck would sound like a workaround to most people in
an established high end post business, or a completion insurance company.
Processing data on set in a truck would also raise questions about data management and data security and post houses would maybe decline responsibility for the overall finished image quality of a project.
This could be another completion problem.
Changing lens sets and image quality settings (windowed) when shooting off speed
would be another.
We raise these issues because we want Red to be a success on all levels.
To make these discussions personal or disregard concerns from professionals working in the industry seems to be any easy thing to do here at Reduser.net.
I'd hate to see this camera get a bad name in the established industry, for whatever reason. I want the best for Red.
All good things ,Mezmo
