  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wooden Camera Cable-less Mounts?

Any cabled plate works, just as it did on Epic. I've been using my Viewfactor APU plate on rails hanging off the back.
 
If you have one on order, wooden camera will send you a temporary plate that has a small D-Tap to Lemo cable connected. Then, when they are shipping the revised plates, they'll still send you that one! So email them...they'll take care of you!

They have not brought this up at any time during these two months. They've just said they are glad about my patience. They should be glad I haven't landed any gigs for my Weapon and have the schedule full with editing, otherwise I would have gone with another company like ET or Red themselves. Not only that, but they keep mixing my orders with others, it's a mess. If they delay this further I'm gonna cancel. I had patience with the initial three weeks, then a delay and another, but a third is not how you treat a customer, not in the way they handle it, with just silence or pre-written words of "Thanks for your patience". Ugh

Yea..it's not public knowledge - they aren't advertising it...so reach out and they'll get you something you can use during the interim.
 
Does anyone have any news on when these are shipping? I don't get any answers from WC other than "we are awaiting parts" and they've said it for nearly two months now. Last word was June delivery, but I haven't heard anything confirming this. Has anyone received theirs? Or gotten any answers on when to expect it?

Approx. 3 weeks was the update I got last week at CineGear.

They have been saying that since I ordered in mid april. Then after three weeks it was three weeks more and so on. I'm fine with delays, but they should have better oversight of the timeframe. If they had said around 10 weeks back then I would have known to get something else. Being constantly told about new delays makes us unable to plan anything. Will I have the mount in three weeks from now? Can I start using the camera for field work or need I wait three weeks more and so on. So far the communication with WC through my local dealer has been a pain. When asking about any updates on the delivery schedule they return with an answer about a completely different product. Right now I'm only hoping that the mount is worth the wait. The ONLY reason I'm getting the Wooden Camera blueshape cable-less is because it can be mounted lower to make room for the top handle and Red batteries. I just wished Red would have made a V-lock with this function or any other manufacturer because I'm getting a bit tired about WCs communcation on my order.

I received this update on June 7th: "The boards are going into production now and the first shipments should go out in about 2 weeks."

They sent me the temporary fix with the DTap cables, which works... But is quite annoying as it's easy to unplug in the DTAP while handling the camera. Luckily I haven't lost any clips because of this, just a few "camera was not properly shut down" restarts.

I'm sorry to say that this is bullshit. The most recent word as of today June 21th is that shipping is three weeks from now. This is the same bullshit answer I've got since mid-april. I'm ok with waiting, but these kind of responses can't be made several times over.

Is there ANY other mount that can lower the battery to work with the top handle? If there is I'm through with the Wooden Camera-bullshit. Their customer feedback has been one of the worst I've ever encountered. I can't believe Red doesn't use their lower-design, it would make things so much better.
 
Has anyone heard anything from Wooden Camera? I've been asking them for an update about when the Cable-Less is shipping and there's just silence. They referred to checking with the European dealer about dates for orders, but they haven't even heard anything from Wooden Camera about anything. What the hell is going on? Does anyone know?

They've been pumping out products pretty regularly so it's not like they're just sitting around. They have clearly hit a roadblock with it. As RED is telling its current Raven and scarlet customers, "thank you for your patience."

I only need the mount and WC mount is the only mount to work with the Red top handle and Red bricks.

They have been giving me false notions on delivery since mid-april and now they are totally silent. I don't mind waiting, if they had said that they don't know when it's ready, but giving a definite answer of "shipping in three weeks, every time they hit that three weeks mark is just bad. Right now I'm in a position where I don't have a mount, I don't know if I should wait for this mount or if the shipping date is actually longer away than given the last time around and I should give up waiting.
What bugs me the most is that WC is the ONLY company that enables you to use the Red Bricks together with the Top Handle (no, I don't want a riser making the camera higher just because of that).
